Duke is hiring a Duke person to take over for K. Case closed.

Just as Syracuse will hire a Syracuse person to replace Boeheim. These places where the outgoing coach is an institution are all going to do the exact same thing we did after Bryant. They're going to hire one of their own. Michigan State will probably do the same when Izzo hangs it up too.

John Scheyer is reportedly who they are hiring. I like Stevens being out there as the big fish over Oats if a major job comes open next offseason. Even though if what SOG said is true about the Arena I don’t think Oats will leave

Stevens just got one of the cushiest jobs in basketball. Wouldn't surprise me if he never coaches another game in his life.

some people think the name image and likeness fiasco will change all of college sports and the best players will end up where all the money is--the West Coast. These older coaches dont want to deal with it and the xfer portal.

Scheyer probably for a couple of years just to transition. Unless he just has enormous success he’s probably just a placeholder. Nobody wants to follow Coach K. It’ll be interesting to see who takes the job after Scheyer is let go after 2-3 years.

truth is coach k hasnt been the same since the trauma of getting called out by that small fry at bama. and now, hes even more afraid of what that guy called oats can become....

Scheyer has been their main recruiter for the last several years. I think he'll be fine there tbh.

Rodney Rice started his live period off today with an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-4 guard out of DeMatha had a homecoming of sorts as he reunited with his now-former high school coach and newly-minted Hokies assistant, Mike Jones, who was just hired by Mike Young in an assistant coaching role after the departure of Chester Frazier.
“It was cool. The coaches and I have formed an important connection and I felt very welcomed and prioritized as well. It was fun, the students weren’t on the campus of course but I’ll be back in the fall,” Rice told Stockrisers.com.
The Top-50 prospect and four-star junior didn’t have a scheduled Hokies visit just yet up until the hiring of his former coach, but, I wouldn’t put the Hokies in the driver's seat just yet as Rice has plans to visit several other programs, including teams who have been in the hunt for him for quite some time now.
He’s currently in the process of choosing which schools outside of V-Tech he plans on visiting. He already made it known he will visit Louisville, Alabama, Georgetown, Maryland, and UConn. It’s just a matter of where he will head next for his future visits.
Rice said his next visit will be either at Louisville or Alabama and could come as soon as next week. In addition, he’s talking with Maryland and Georgetown and is working on dates to visit both schools at some point in the future.
Louisville: “Louisville’s pitch is to allow me to play freely and I would have the green light.”
Alabama: ”Bamas pitch is that they have a fast-paced offense and they get lots of 3s up which is the best part of my game. They feel like I can thrive in their system.”
Commitment timeline?
”Commitment will be in the fall.”

Seems as though Will Shaver may have committed to UNC on his official visit.

I've been looking at various mock drafts, a few with both rounds. Only Bama guy they're mentioning is Herb. With 350+ prospects but only 60 picks, it's gonna be tough to get in. He's young as hell, which is currently his main appeal. I have a feeling he's going to return.

It says we didn't offer him. Any of y'all know his story? At 6'9" 245, was he not much of a runner, and more of a traditional big man?

Don’t know much about him other than both Alabama and Auburn weren’t pressing him very hard.

I think he had an “offer” from us, but I do not believe it was an actual offer that he could commit to if that makes sense. He reminds me of Reese a good bit actually and I think we can make better use of a scholly tbh.

Kaleb Banks is supposed to be on a visit today too I think.

Yeah I've seen "less athletic Reese" as a player comp for Shaver, which I agree is not exactly a good use of a scholarship. Although that's not a bad fit for what UNC likes to do on offense, which I assume isn't going to change much from Roy to Hubert.
