I could see how that would check out. Sears obviously is the most accomplished player for us but there were also reasons why there were a few times Oats had to straight bench him.
Philon, Holloway, and Bethea are all 5 star top 20 type players. They have all the talent in the world. We have a more talented roster on paper than we’ve ever had.

We have a very talented roster. However it isn't more talented, on paper or otherwise, than the 22-23 squad in my opinion. That team was absolutely loaded.

1-13, this team has wayyyy more talented depth. Starting 5, though, 22-23 was better on paper.

Idk….Dom Welch was one of the best players in the A10 and he didn’t sniff the floor on that 23 team

The 2023 team had 2 lotto picks, arguably the most accomplished player in school history was a 3rd option most games, and the best defensive center of Oats era.
I know the starting 5 was not comparable and comparing the depth will have to be played out on the court.

You know a team was really damn good when you're disappointed by a Sweet 16 appearance.

I was at that sweet 16. I pregamed in Louisville all day and I was not mentally prepared for PRINCETON fans to talk shite to me post game.
Not my proudest moment but I’ve been kicked out of nicer places than the KFC Yum! Center for trying to fight Ivy League assholes.

Or a 6'4 five star point guard. He may not have had a great shot, but he was an elite defender and exceptional ball handler.

Interesting that he doesn't have Michigan State amongst his finalists.

Yeah. He said at least a year ago that he didn't want to play at Michigan St. Izzo hasn't even bothered offering him. Kinda reminds me of Riley Ridley situation from years ago. Some guys want to blaze their own trail and not have constant comparisons to family.

I thought everyone expected Collins to be raw as hell. Especially considering how late he came in.

I think he’s very much a depth/emergency guy. If you told me we utilized the redshirt rule like we did with Houston Mallette I wouldn’t be surprised
