Would be great if the ladies could knock off this projected four-seed team on the road

if Nate does EVER decide to move on, that's who I want to hire. Continuity of system, a great recruiter, and can obviously coach ball

Does EVER is what I should have said. I don't think he ever takes another college job. But he may try the NBA.

Took a second to get over this one.
Thoughts after reflection:
- Unpopular opinion: Last 30 seconds aside, we looked great yesterday. We played like the better team. Rick Barnes won the "foul disparity!" game that he always plays with the officials, and we still should have won the game at their place. Literally took every little thing going wrong to lose that game. Late banked 3, And 1 + foul on missed FT, no TO (both to set up a play on last possession and on the inbounds), officials calling 5 seconds before reaching the fifth count and not seeing Barnes screaming for a TO well before the shot, Cliff having absolutely no awareness, and a poor scorer hitting a half court heave. Just an absolute disaster in the last 30 seconds.
- This could be a blessing in disguise. We all knew Nate's reluctance to call TOs was going to cost us eventually, and it absolutely obliterated us yesterday. Good thing is that he acknowledged it and took ownership. I would rather lose this one now than it be the reason we miss out on a chance to be National Champions.
- Sears is BACK. Sears going back to playing off-ball more has completely opened up his offensive game, allowing him to use his shooting ability to beat his defender off the dribble (wish someone would have thought of that earlier
)
- All the focus needs to be on the NCAA Tournament. We're locked in as a top 6 seed and if we couldn't get the #2 overall (extreme longshot now), the rest of the regular season was pretty pointless for us. As I noted before, Nate has seemed to put his focus more on the NCAAT this season as he's allowed guys like Stevenson (and even Sears at a certain point) to work through their struggles at the detriment to team success at times, because he's aware that them playing their best is what will give us the best chance at a title. Hated his coaching last game but have loved his approach of focusing on the big goal instead of shooting for more of the same.

It definitely hurt. But Nate needed this. We've been critical all year about our inbounds offense and defense. Hopefully the staff will get more creative, AND PUT A LONG DEFENDER TO FACEGUARD THE INBOUNDER LIKE THEY DID TO PHILON. We put MoD in front of Zeigler on that inbounds and they don't get that ball in cleanly. That pissed me off more than anything. Giving them a free shot at whatever play they wanted.
Bama was the better team, just was. 2 late foul calls doesn't change that, just changes the result. I still don't think it was a foul on Grant. Dude went straight up and they plowed into him.
HIT YOUR frickING FREE THROWS. I do not understand why it is so hard to make free throws for this team. We easily win this game if we shoot 80% from the line instead of 65%.
I don't think this loss affects our seeding quite as much as ESPN was acting. The committee the last few years, both in word and action, have made it obvious close away losses to good teams do not hurt resumes. I don't really care about the 1 seed, would just be nice to be on that 1 line since AU will be.

I will never understand how you give them a free trigger with a 5'9 guard. We had Philon standing a solid 15 feet away from Ziegler, Really just waiting for Ziegler to throw it in and then to shadow him with a head start up court. But the logic makes no sense. If we are going to do that, then why not have Philon at mid court to offer assistance in forcing them to throw short and then pick up Ziegler with an even wider area for prevention of Ziegler getting by him.

I can actually understand this one. The reason they did it to Philon is because it was under our basket. Big man is already down low, so he can pressure the in-bounder and still be in a good defensive position once ball is in-play. Mo, even though he's a great defender, can't possibly stay in front of one of the fastest guards in the league when he's pressuring the in-bounds pass. A lot of play designs are designed to go back to in-bounder as they get a head of steam. If you actually watch the play again (as bad as it might hurt) this was their plan and you'll see that if Mo (or even Philon) pressures the in-bounds pass that would have likely resulted in a better look than they got. The problem with our defense there was that Cliff apparently has zero clue how long 3.5 seconds is.

St John's jumped Bama in the AP. They've PLAYED 4 ranked teams this season (#11, 13, 19 and 24) Bama has BEATEN 9 ranked teams. SMH

Vandy has beaten 3 straight ranked opponents and they aren't even ranked.

Sears was absolutely robbed of it last year, but it's Braden Smith this year and it's not close.

Is it me or does it seem that AU has an inside person in the SEC office with the scheduling? They play tonight and we don't play until tomorrow, which gives them an extra day to prepare for us this weekend. In baseball, we played a series with them last year at AU and this year we are going back there for this year's series. In football, they practically have 3 weeks to prepare for the iron bowl. Maybe I'm just a conspiracy theory nut or I'm looking at it wrong.

Florida State could have a former Alabama basketball staffer at the helm of its men's program for the 2025-26 season.
Per a report from The Field of 68 analyst Jeff Goodman on Tuesday, Arkansas State head coach Bryan Hodgson is "in the mix" for the job with the Seminoles, who were led by Leonard Hamilton until his resignation in February amid an NIL lawsuit.
Hodgson, an elite recruiter, served on Alabama coach Nate Oats' staff from 2019 to 2023 and moved on to take his first head coaching job at Arkansas State, where the Red Wolves have gone 42-26 since his arrival.
Other potential candidates included Boston Celtics assistant Sam Cassell, Sacramento Kings assistant Luke Loucks, Duke assistant Chris Carrawell, plus two names out of the Yellowhammer State in UAB head coach Andy Kennedy and Samford's Bucky McMillan.

You’re not wrong. Their conference basketball schedule was a joke. Basically zero tough road games.

Actually this sounds perfect correct.
The same goes with rocky top. Both of them seem to get the 50/50 decisions in their favor (outside field of play), scheduling, etc.
It's actually our fault because we're the giant and we seem to not want to be perceived that way so we cater to the others far too much.
