And to top it all off, he’s not even on a better team

He got the 8th most minutes for KU tonight. He has started 7 of 10 games.
He didn’t start in the only two I watched

Bummer. Time to go all in for Burries.

Honestly I’d give him a holler in the offseason and see if he’d take the Oats discount

We should have beaten Oregon. That Wrightsell injury and bullshite Goaltend really fricked us in that game

I’d say our turnovers and awful shooting lost us the game more than a terrible call. Hopefully we’ve gotten that out of our system and it’ll be only GOAT Sears from here on out.

We could have used him on this year's team. But he overvalued his status on the team, or he left strictly for the money. He is not a gamechanger, but he is a piece. He seemed like a good fit here as a 3&D guy, not sure what he was looking to do elsewhere. Maybe he wants to work on his midrange game.

But the turnovers and missed shots were accurately called. That was not a goaltend. The GT call was the difference in the game.
Now, against Purdue i felt like the refs gave us a lot of bad whistles, but we lost that game bc Purdue was making their shots and we werent. They hit contested middies all day, and we clanged a bunch of 3PAs.

It was almost certainly nothing but the money. He's closer to home but not close to home, and if he was looking for a bigger role going to a program as stacked as Kansas was fricking stupid unless Self just flat out lied to him, which, to be fair, is something I wouldn't rule out.

It was money but I bet he’s surprised at his minutes. Maybe he decides that he was having way more fun at Bama and takes a paycut
He’d be exactly what we need right now but we essentially traded him for Philon. I don’t think we could have gotten both this season.
Also, it continues to amaze me how often players are worse after they leave Oats’ program. Rylan would be nice simply because he’s a great fit and he’d fill an injury hole. Other than that, we didn’t miss JQ, Bradley, Pringle, Burnett, or anyone else that I can remember

Illinois is now 5th in NET. A team we beat by Double Digits on a neutral floor and has a worse resume/record than us is 5 spots ahead of us.

quote:Inconsistency will kill you in the NET. Illinois beat their 6 Q4 opponents by an average of 41 points. We almost lost to UND (who was taken down at home by Omaha last night).

Pringle is playing pretty well and I miss him hedging high ball screens..

That just makes zero sense for Q4 opponents to really carry any weight at all unless you lose to them.
The whole argument you just presented (not a slight at you, you are just explaining the net) is completely invalidated by the fact the Illinois has played 6 Quad 4 teams to begin. We have played 2. The whole purpose of the net was to punish teams for overscheduling creampuffs and now we are giving them credit for beating the hell out of them?
So Illinois has 6 40 plus average wins over Q4 opps while instead we are playing risky while we are 6-0 vs Q2 and Q3 opps which should carry much greater water than their 1-0 record vs Q2 and Q3

He’s a very efficient offensive guy and a good rebounder. But we are #1 in the nation at converting 2-pt attempts and rebounding is a strength
Where Rylan was a good player in a perfect fit. I think Pringle was a good player in a poor fit. He’s not really an ideal 4 or 5 under Oats

quote:I mean, they account for opponent strength. Playing Q4 teams is risky in that regard - if you don't destroy them they will kill your statistical rankings (and if you lose to them they'll torpedo your at-large chances). Illinois has also played 1 more quad 1 game than we have.

KenPom and Torvik both have Illinois above us, and top 15 in both defensive and offensive efficiency.
Keep in mind they were behind us in NET until last night, when they went to Eugene and hung a 32-point beatdown on a top 10 Oregon team, who we lost to on a neutral floor.
