Makes Alabama’s win over ASU look much better. They have a very good team.

A team going from winless in 18 conference games last year to beating the #1 team by 9 is almost unbelievable (and were up 20+). This conference is INSANE!

At this point, literally every road game is scheduled to be a Q1 game except USC. Kenpom still has USC in top 70 (possibly factoring in last year’s stuff), but NET has them top 100. Either way, this conference is going to be a war.

I’ll stay with my 14-4 preseason pick but even a 13-5 or 12-6 record would be very successful this year.

P.S. loved seeing Hodge’s boys empty the Memphis arena early in the 2nd half.

That was an impressive win for A State!

For the SEC as of today... If someone said, just name 4 teams out of the 16 that won't be in the NCAA tournament.. I would have little confidence in my picks.

Astate beats Memphis. Highest ranked win for astate in their program.

And beating Memphis in particular has to be satisfying as hell for A state.

He would’ve probably played close to 20 minutes a game, especially games where he heats up from 3.

Bama is definitely missing a John Petty type guy this year that just gets unconscious from deep at times. Rylan had moments that approached that last year. He would’ve played a major role right now with Youngblood having been out and Wrightsell now done for the year.

Yeah but if Rylan doesn't transfer to Kansas does Philon flip his commitment to Bama? Who knows but I'll take having Labaron over having Rylan.

Yeah, I doubt it. And he knew that. That's why he left.

They play different positions, but I agree, I’d much rather have Philon.

It’s just asinine to suggest Griffin wouldn’t have played more and contributed more if he had stayed.

A 3rd year guy who fits Oats style as well as anyone only playing about half the game is doubtful? Not a good take on your part.

He averaged over 25 minutes last year. It’s reasonable to assume he would’ve seen less this year, but in some games it would’ve been more. He probably assumed he should be getting Sears type minutes, and I’m sure sure Nate was honest about the plan for this year.

This team is so deep, we redshirted guys of Rylan's talent level. I'm not saying he wouldn't play at all, being a third year guy, but how many minutes could he possibly get?

You claimed he wouldn’t even see 20 minutes.

It’s reasonable he wouldn’t have averaged over 25 each game this year, but it wouldn’t have dropped below 20.

Don’t deflect from your poor thought.

Wrightsell had multiple games over 30 minutes. I love Wrightsell, but he’s not far and away better than Griffen.

Your original claim was that he wouldn’t have gotten much more than what he’s getting as Kansas, and that’s just not reasonable.

So, Rylan is averaging right at 20 min a game at Kansas. And you think he'd get considerably more than that at Bama? So, what, at least 25? 30? Where are they coming from? Sears? Wrightsell? This is the reason Mallette was redshirted. Even after Wrightsell was injured, they had to debate if there would be enough minutes to pull Mallette's redshirt. And I don't think they would have if Youngblood was back and at full speed.

I guess if you had a crystal ball and knew Wrightsell was going to get injured, you could say Rylan would have gotten all of his minutes, which is still just about 25 a game. But, what happens to those 25 minutes when Youngblood returns?

I liked Rylan, but he wasn't significantly better than any of the guys that play his position at Bama this year. At some point it's just math. There are only 200 minutes to go around. Rylan wasn't getting 25+ of them.

Now, I'm done arguing about hypotheticals. Saban would be ashamed.

You’re not doing a very good job at it, so that’s wise.

What makes you think he'd have played more minutes on a team with a deeper backcourt? I don't know that he'd have lost minutes, but he certainly wouldn't have gained any or played much of a different role unless his handle has improved dramatically.

Can't wait to start getting that Big 12 treatment where conference losses are ignored and you just get to stack Q1/2 wins for 2 months.

I hope so! I can certainly envision an NCAA 1 seed from the SEC coming into the tournament with 6-8 losses

OT but has anyone under Oats ever left and made it clear that we were underutilizing them? You could say Gary but it took him a year
