Tennessee lost Knecht, Jordan James, Aidoo and Vescovi from the starting line up. Final Four good?

They are always gonna be elite defensively.

This got a good chuckle out of me Pio.

By the way, you’re starting UGA home game threads again this year, assuming Lord Cluckhead doesn’t delete them all

They also have Rick Barnes. Who is going to replace Knecht's scoring ability? He's never going to scheme up an offense so he needs a guy who can reliably get his own shot. I'm seriously asking. I'm not very knowledgeable about what they're working with this season.

The deal was this. The past 3 years he was sport a bunchie ane Ill do the gamethreads. That was all fine and dandy. Then, one day he removes the bunchie and I quit doing gamethreads.
Now, the Georgia gamethreads get no replies and gets moved
State fans have asked me to do their gamethreads now. Im not sure how I got into this gig but I feel like I should charge a fee.

They got Chaz Lanier and Igor Millicic who were both solid 3pt shooters last year.
They won’t be as good as last year…that was the year for them. They were National Title good and missed the opportunity.
They will be like they were every other year before last. Final 4 good at their best but will probably go cold on offense in the Tournament and get bounced

I feel like the SEC will eat each other this year.

Im leaning that way as well. Frankenstein rosters all across SEC basketball. Alabama is a great team on paper and though im biased, I don't see Alabama really having any deficiencies aside from maybe lacking a dominant post player, but very few teams have a dominant offensive threat in the post anymore....All of that said, Alabama will still have to dodge quite a few bullets to win this league.

Looking just at stats I'd say Lanier could be a replacement for Knecht, but Milicic looks like he has always been a high efficiency/low volume kind of guy. Regardless, I just don't trust Barnes in the postseason at all. Not exactly a bold take I know, but in a single elimination tournament I think you're pretty much always going to lower your ceiling by being a team accustomed to playing tackle basketball on defense. The teams that ride strong defenses to titles usually win with length and discipline instead of physical play.

Definitely. There are probably 8+ teams making the tournament, and the bottom 1/3 of the conference isn't nearly as broadly bad as it usually is. Gonna be a few very good teams with 7+ conference losses this season.

I agree with you and I believe Alabama probably has the best team. Just like in football, you will have to bring it every game and consistency is going to be key. Curious to see which team has the dreaded 2 bad weeks in jan/feb to only catch on fire in march.

He was a one year transfer, that turned out way better than people expected. They've been at the top of the conference for the last few years without him. Final Four good might be stretching it. But I bet they're no lower than a 4 seed.

So who is supposedly going to redshirt? Naas?

and possibly Reid, but knowing how it is now they will probably transfer at the end of the season. I feel that Reid is more ready to play than Naas though

Neither of those guys are redshirting. Are y'all serious? Until Youngblood is healthy Reid is probably in the starting 5 every night. And Jarin tested the draft waters and then decided to come back. I don't understand the logic of thinking either of them would even consider redshirting.
Posted on 10/31/24 at 9:23 am to RollTide33
Redshirting is for injuries and walk ons.
Posted on 10/31/24 at 9:45 am to RollTide33
Yeah, Youngblood is probably more likely to redshirt then Naas or Reid. It would obviously be a medical redshirt. But 5 stars don't redshirt, and it's rare for a top 50 player to take one.

Calm down Francis! It's not that big of a deal

One thing to keep in mind as we're talking about playing time is that we're going to have guys banged up; that's the nature of a long basketball season. Except now we aren't forced to play a 75% Nelson at the 5 or rush a Wrightsell back from a concussion just to stay competitive. So playing time will be there, it's just the mix of guys available will change some over the course of the season.
