anyone know what these kids do for 3 months while they are "in the draft" ? Im not too worried shack working out on his own, since he did a pretty good job during covid. Im not so sure it didnt hurt Petty last year while he was out running around chasing the dream.. He sure didnt improve any after his junior year. It just seems like they miss out on the off season strength and conditioning program, and butting heads against other good college athletes every day.

Alabama freshman Josh Primo, who recently declared for the 2021 NBA Draft, has signed with agent Todd Ramasar of Life Sports Agency. Ramasar is NCAA certified, which allows Primo to test draft waters while leaving the door open for a possible return to Alabama next season.

Class of 2022 five-star big Jalen Duren has named a Top 11, but only nine of those options are colleges.
Duren, the 6-foot-10, 230-pound center from Montverde (FL) Academy, lists Villanova, Michigan, Miami, Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, UCLA, Penn State and Memphis as his top nine schools.

He is also considering the NBA G-League and Australian NBL.

“Jalen has a chance to be an NBA All-Star,” Team Final coach James Johns said. “He just continues to get better. If this is about potential then Jalen Duren is the No. 1 player in this class. Nobody has been able to be more productive and still have such a high ceiling than him.”

Anyone know what the criteria for becoming "NCAA certified" is? Because I don't really like the idea of players being able to hire agents and also retain eligibility. Setting aside the violations minefield it seems to create, I just can't imagine a sports agent advising a kid to do anything other than stay in the draft since that's how they make their money.

I’m not gonna freak out if Primo stays in draft. It just gives someone like Darius Miles his chance to step up and I think he is more than capable

my thoughts exactly. even without major minutes i could see miles going off for 20 on occasion. thats how high i am on him, esp with jd and jq carving up defenses. with primo my uncertainty goes away entirely, but without him im still pretty confident thanks to miles, keon, and ofcourse shack. oh yeah, that 5 star nimari guy is here two......depth is nice.

I strongly disagree with both of you, Primo is an elite shooter that opens up the rest of the driving lanes for the entire offense. He instantly boosts the ceiling of the offense when he’s in the game. Miles has all the tools to be great but we haven’t seen any of those great qualities in a real game except for a few highlight plays in garbage time. We need Primo with us next season, it’s our best chance in a very long time to make a final four appearance and I honestly think we can win the whole thing with all hands on deck.

Yea I'd be pretty disappointed if we don't get Primo back. He has a perfect skillset for this program - length, defensive raw ability, smooth shot, athleticism. We need all the Primo/Ellis type guys we can get to send at teams in droves. He's primed for a huge step up next year, too.

Wouldn't be the end of the world, but I think losing him would definitely be a hit.

hey i hear you, it would def suck to not have primo. just the other day i was baffled on here at how some didnt even think he would get drafted this year if he went. i think where we disagree is our ability to adjust and still be a contender without him, due to our depth. im obviously alot higher on miles than you who i admitted is a question mark, but its also not just him. both keon and jq were even more efficient from 3 than primo, and were arguably more efficient overall, which is sick. those guys and shack are proven, and should only get better. jd is an animal. i dont think hell be a bust at all at this level. that means miles is the 5th guard even without primo. teams would kill to have that kind of depth. then factor in the impact our frontcourt should bring and i can def still see us going all the flippin way. though obviously, as was already said with primo things are beyond gravy, to me atleast.
ha and for the record i dont think this discussion will even matter in the long run (atleast it better not), but gotta do something for the next 8 months, so from one junky to another, i appreciate your feedback.

Sometimes people are in life situations, where they just need to get paid to support family. That's the only thing that can explain some jumps over seen attempted over the years. But if they need to earn a living, and want to go to Europe, it's hard to blame guys. Obviously, just are just being fed bullshite by people and are talked into, or on their own, make bad decisions with their career. It's easy to judge behind a keyboard or over a beer with buddies.

I think everyone will be back. Primo could easily work his way into the 1st round, even lottery pick, with a good season. He has NBA size and wingspan, and a style that would fit well in a lot of rosters. If he shows consistency, and the ability to be a leader in games, he'll make a significantly larger payday, and a guaranteed roster spot. Late 2nd is a gamble. But at least they have the g league to let guys develop in the US, instead of having to go international.

There's not one mock draft I have seen that's came out since the season ended that has him getting drafted this year. It's a reach that he would get drafted, maybe some team would take a chance on him late due to his age but he would be in the G league for a while.

His situation is similar to Kira's, he would have been a late draft pick at best if he had came out after his freshman season and he came back and ended up getting drafted in the top 15 the next year.

Primo is best served to come back another year, he would really be rolling the dice going by entering the draft this year.

Most people don’t even know that he’s eligible for the draft.

The people who get paid to do mock drafts know who is in the draft. He announced a week ago.

If they don't know he is eligible they aren't very good at their jobs.

I was referring to kids jumping in the transfer portal like the guy from Memphis who played a lot and a lot were on successful teams across the country. I know things arise throughout the year but it just seems like it is the “cool thing to do” right now . Not a fan of it

There are a few sites that project him anywhere from mid-second round to not drafted.

With such a broad range it's hard to say, but I guess that's exactly why he's testing the waters.

Personally I hope he comes back, but it's nice to have the luxury (for once) of not fretting too much over it.

By him testing the waters, he'll get feedback on the things he needs to improve upon to get drafted higher. That's valuable info from the horse's mouth. It'll only benefit him.
