Davison is killing us. Three point lead at the half vs the Aggies and he comes out turning it over. He had a deer in the headlights look and Wade forced the ball into his hands at the end here, and he did not disappoint.
One and done? More like done, he is not progressing.

JD has good size! He just needs to keep developing.

Not to be sunshine pumper, but Shack didn’t hit a single 3 all game and we took a tournament team to OT on their court. Overall, I thought the effort was there. Just too many dumb mistakes to overcome.
By memory, we had possession of the ball 3 or 4 times in the second half to extend the lead to a comfortable margin, and came up empty every time. Ellis missed an open 3, Shack missed an open 3, JQ missed a contested one, and we turned it over another. Can’t win on the road doing that.

I mean he's been bad with this group.
I am also not anywhere close to wanting to fire him. He's a young coach who is gonna have a bunch of learning experiences at a high level. This year is definitely one.

That is on the coaches not anticipating them denying JQ the ball and having a plan B. They clearly didn’t because JD spent too much time trying to get the ball to JQ, and when it was go time it was too late.

Again, that may be an indictment on the last 20 years, but who you offering up as better?

Cool. He will accept it and own it mistaken.

We also came back from down 4 to force OT after Oats called his “good timeout” of the game and Rojas’s 3 point play. Guys fought hard, just couldn’t overcome careless TOs and Shack’s turtle shell performance (and Oats not going to Gurley down low on their smaller defenders…if I’m remembering correctly, it won us a game recently. But yeah, let’s play Rojas for 10 min to close out).

Exactly what I observed as well.

Let me rephrase that….
At the end of the day our 3 perimeter players (JQ, Shack, JD) are 5’11”, 6’3”, and 6’3”, instead of 6’3”, 6’6”, and 6’6”. It limits us. Plus, Nimari Burnett tore his ACL, and Joshua Primo exploded unexpectedly at the NBA draft combine and was picked in the top 15.

He can't create for himself, when things went off script he had no clue. He lacks the confidence.
Cold or not, I still want Shack or Gurley out there instead of JD.

Shack 0-7/8 whatever it was from three
Mix that way under season average performance with some dumb turnovers and dumb overtime plays and the fact we took them to overtime is linked to the fact we played with effort today.
Did we have chances to win? Yes. Should we probably have won this game? Yes. But playing at LSU, who is a tourney team, and taking them to overtime with absolutely nothing from arguably your best player is not the end of the world by any means.
The shot clock violation was inexcusable, like I absolutely don’t understand how that happens, but JD wasn’t our worst performer today even though in the moment I was ready to place this whole game on his shoulders for that shot clock violation.
But if we can get that damn effort every game (asking for a lot there) and a normal shack performance to go along with everything else and thats a team that could do damage in the tourney.
However, with the Jekyll and Hyde act, there really is no telling what team will show up any given moment.

i mean this is college…that is not exceptionally abnormal measurables for 1-3…small for a 3 but normal for 1-2

Yeah, hindsight says Shack should have been on the floor for that possession for his experience. He wouldn’t have panicked like JD did. Still, the coaches should have had a play for JD in the event LSU denied JQ the ball. They didn’t.
The shot clock violation is on JD. That possession is on the coaches.

Oats should have called a timeout to reset once JQ wasn’t gonna be able to get the ball

Happy they’re in the field but not hopeful they do anything in it.
