Things are good when we are debating whether or not a 6'11" guy is needed in a game and if we're the best team in the country.

Gotta love it. Let's take it one game at a time and have a good showing tonight. It's nice to finally have a team that we all can enjoy watching because it's talented AND well coached.

Why do you care about Vegas preseason futures?

Vegas preseason futures were never mentioned.

You replied to my post of the top 25 and said Alabama is better than every team ranked ahead of us. Then went on to say you would favor us over every other team in the country and implied that that the rest of us will agree with you after we blow out Gonzaga.

quote:

Lines are meant to encourage action on both sides, they’re not Vegas’ prediction on what will happen

Then you tried to explain gambling lines to me while completely killing your own argument. Vegas wants even action on both sides of a line, because no matter what they also take the vig. Alabama being favored in a game against Gonzaga would have 95%+ of the money on Gonzaga and put the books in position of potentially taking a big loss. There is a reason Vegas is Vegas - they are really good at creating lines and Joe Public always wants to prove they are smarter.

y’all will start to come around.
None of us will “come around” even if we do beat Gonzaga because none of us doubt we can beat them. Most of us believe we have the potential to beat any team in the country, but there’s literally no benefit to declare your team better or say you’re going to win before you do it. It does make you look like a fool if you’re wrong though. Saban has never once declared his team better than an opponent before they played in the game so they could prove it, but I don’t think anyone would accuse him of not believing in his teams. He has turned lots of folks into fools for saying it against his teams though.

I hope at the end of the season we’re both as satisfied in what happened this season, but I have a feeling that anything less than a National championship will prove that not to be true on your end. Im all for having high hopes for a team, but setting up crazy expectations just sets the team up for failure and isn’t fair to them. Lets just enjoy the season and the great team and leadership we have whatever happens, it’s going to be an awesome ride. The players and coaches deserve that from us as fans.

I think it's safe to say that we're all pretty high on this team.

It can get just the slightest bit negative around here when we're not. We reserve the right to jump off a fricking building at almost any point.

Meanwhile, as we argue about exactly where Bama sits as a national contender, Missouri the "Basketball school" is waking up this morning to having been blown out at home by Missouri-Kansas City.

Great times we're living in fellas.

Not fair to the team? I’ll be there watching and supporting if they lose out the rest of the way. I’m just saying what I’m seeing, I don’t think any team in the country can match up with us. Now in the NCAA tournament, anything can happen, but based off what I’ve seen in a tiny sample size, I’m extremely encouraged and I like us against anyone else in the country. There’s no way to back that up then to watch the season unfold and I think more people will agree after we perform better than expected in the games leading up to and including Gonzaga. Last thing I’ll say about it cause I know it’s getting repetitive.

From Seth Davis at the athletic...

quote:

Alabama

This was the week that it really hit home for coach Nate Oats that Herb Jones, last year’s SEC player and defensive player of the year, is no longer in the program. The Tide stomped two pretty good mid-majors in Louisiana Tech and South Dakota State at home, but after watching his team give up 88 points to the Jackrabbits on Friday, Oats devoted all of Sunday’s two-plus hours of practice to defense. “Herb really set the tone for us at that end,” Oats told me. “We know we can score, but sometimes our offense is going so well that they just play as hard (on defense) as they need to. The scoreboard should never dictate your effort.”
That’s to be expected from a team that is breaking in a new frontcourt in 7-foot freshman center Charles Bediako and 6-8 senior forward Noah Gurley, a transfer from Furman. The Tide also got a promising start from heralded freshman guard JD Davison. He averaged 9.0 points in the two wins, and though he was frustrated that he shot 1 of 6 from 3, he had 11 assists to four turnovers and really excelled in the open court. In Davison, 6-1 junior Jahvon Quinerly, 6-3 junior Jaden Shackelford and 6-6 senior Keon Ellis, the Tide has one of the top perimeter quartets in the country. “If you look at all those guards, one of them is going to be going up against the other team’s third-best perimeter defender,” Oats said. “That’s going to be a problem for them.”
Alabama has three more not-easy/not-hard games before it hits its brutal early December stretch against Gonzaga, Houston and Memphis. Those will be a highly entertaining game, to say the least. Then again, Alabama is entertaining no matter whom it plays. If this group gets equally committed to playing defense, this will be another special season in Tuscaloosa.

Also forgot to add, if any of y’all actually gamble not just explain lines in some weird Vegas circle jerk check out the Wyoming-Washington bball game on Thursday night. Washington is a big name school and that effects early season cbb lines more than any other major sport. Line isn’t out but Wyoming is the better team and I like them outright as a dog.

Looking forward to seeing how Bama holds up. Taking any 2 of the 3 would be tremendous.

What exactly does "better than expected" mean in this discussion? I think most people would've had us at 5-2 at worst going into the Gonzaga game with a great shot at being either 6-1 or 7-0.

I wonder how you aid and abet a DUI? He driving Banchero’s car?

ETA - just read a longer story and that’s it. Banchero appears to have been sober and was letting the drunk grandson drive.

I can't find anything that goes into exactly what happened, so I'm curious to see how be aided and abetted a DWI. Can't say I've ever seen that one. Sharing an open container maybe?
