no heart and no passion.
I would be ok if Oats cleaned house and got 8 kids from the portal and went looking for all new coaches as well.
We need a new infusion and a lot more players like Herb.

Out coached and out hustled. Good coaches give Oats a lot of trouble. He is not very experienced at the college level and it shows quite often.
Our team seems to play better defense when we are on offensively, otherwise, we lose motivation. heads start hanging, body language is defeatist.
Why did Bediako not play much in the second half? Rojas over Bediako? Have no idea what's up with Quinerly? He has become as frustrating as Petty,at least offensively. Overall this team has been very disappointing.

I'd not be ok with that

This team should be way better.
Primo randomly going from role player to lottery pick over the course of a couple of months and Burnett tearing his ACL because Alabama basketball doomed this team. If either of those guys is playing 25 minutes a night it cures a lot of what ails us. It's a much, much better team on paper than it is in practice. We have too many players who are redundant and very, very few who are positive contributors on both ends.

At this point it's very difficult to figure out what is going on with the lineups. And as someone noted above I don't think that's very helpful at this point in the year
A serious lack of continuity. Just doesn't make sense. I understand trying to deal with match ups but what we're doing is not affective.

Right now I’m kinda checked out on this year’s team but still hope they can figure it out really late and make some noise. I don’t see that happening.
We've been to like 2 NCAA Tournaments in 15 years how can you be checked out on the 3rd one

SOG, I understand that he can be critiqued but why wasn't this said last year concerning Charlie Henry? Because, he had the RIGHT LEADERS...

In the end, this leads to a whole lot of the inconsistency. We matchup well with some teams, but the ones we don't (athletic drivers who grind out possessions) we just have razor slim margins against.

Herb Jones doesn't grow on trees.

When you put it like that…I guess I just sense the inevitability that this team is the round 1 5/6 seed that gets shite on by a mid w/ seniors that play good D and shoot.

I mean I think it was because he had 1 all time great defender and another very very good defender. This year is the opposite.
Im willing to give him the Golding 2019 excuse for this year.

So when we look at NCAA tournament matchups the teams we want to avoid are ones who
- draw lots of fouls
- have a high 2 PT make %
- have low tempo
I'll forward my requests to the committee to make sure we get our fair shake.

Yep never a word when we get big wins.

You right on JD, Shack, & JQ not being good defenders
Posted on 3/2/22 at 8:15 pm to SummerOfGeorge
Add, teams that play great defense and create turnovers. We are incredibly bad at protecting the ball.
Posted on 3/2/22 at 8:15 pm to Chadaristic
Can we please stop running “JD puts his back to the basket, looks left, and turns it over”?

Take a look at our losses this year and how many of them fit the same team build
- USA almost got us with it
- Iona
- Memphis
- Missouri
- Kentucky (2x)
- Texas A&M
All teams that attack the rim first and foremost. We just can't guard those teams without either giving up makes or fouling.

I agree with all this but...
It's still incredibly frustrating to beat some of the top teams in the country and then lose mid-week games to Georgia, Missouri, and A&M.It's March. This team has had enough time to adjust to one guy leaving for the draft and another guy getting injured who has never even played a minute in our uniform.
This team isn't good defensively, commits way too many turnovers, and has an issue with being focused for every game. I didn't see many players that acted like they wanted to be playing tonight. A&M came in as a 10 point dog on the road and beat us by double digits, it would be more embarrassing if it wasn't expected at this point.
I'm just ready to get to the tournament, have fun predicting where this team is going to go.

Same - if we could skip to that Sunday at 3 PM I'd be happy. Even if I traded a seed line for it.

Well...yeah. But if you need one of the best defensive players in school history to play good team defense that's a problem. Denying that it's a problem is just lying to yourself. You can play competent team defense without any individually elite defenders. We have some serious limitations in the backcourt that frick us against certain types of players, but we also just kind of keep trying to defend those players the same way even after months of proof that it doesn't work. It really wouldn't hurt to try something different. It's not like it could be much worse.
