So it must be defense and positioning that keep Miles off the court. He gets chewed out 1 out of every 3 possessions

Re Miles, my friend and I were having the same discussion. He must be slow on D or he would play more. He's shooting lights out right now. 7-8 from 3.

Gurley looked much more comfortable. I look for that to continue.

4 averaging double figures after 2 games, Davidson with 9ppg. They are giving out 1/2 turnovers this year. Is that new? I don't remember seeing that.

It was also nice of the US Men's team to wait to score until the Ala game was over. Good job fellas.

Hopefully. I think Oats said they're doing an MRI and X-ray today. If it's anything worse than a sprained ankle some guys are going to have to step up. Luckily Bediako looks like he came in ready to contribute a lot.

Tchikou should be off suspension now, wonder if he’ll be playing on Tuesday? We need him to come around and contribute, it would be awesome to see him with Bediako.

Is he actually cleared to play? If he is I'd imagine he will get some minutes, but probably only like 5-10.

This should be an opportunity for him, if I were a betting man on Gary I'd say high ankle sprain and as tough as that is on a football player it has to be really rough on a basketball player.

Time for Frentchy to show what he's got. If he's healthy, watching his recruiting highlights he has game.

Yeah, I think it's just Oats sticking to his stance of not playing team defense getting you pulled.

I recall one sequence when we were struggling in the 1st half and Miles came in and immediately hit a big 3 pointer. Then on the defensive end, he trapped a player in the post from behind who kicked out to the guy Miles had left for an open 3 pointer.

The commentator, Hendrix, said something like "looks like they're in a trap defense I haven't seen them run before"

Seems Oats hadn't seen that trapping defense before either. I think he called a TO just to immediately pull Miles and have a chat with him.

That said, it's certainly not a effort issue. He defends hard and pretty well.

Yeah I'm not concerned about Miles. You can teach an inexperienced player and fix mistakes. You can't coach effort into a lazy player or confidence into a timid player though, and Miles plays hard and has yet to meet a shot he didn't think he could make.

Miles is an all around baller. He blocks some shots on defense and gets some steals too. It's just the team defense concepts he needs to better understand in order to stay in the good graces of Coach Oats. But he presents a lot of mismatches for guards.

He's gonna play big minutes this year.

Yeah, Miles' effort is fantastic. If anything, I think Oats is trying to get him to focus it instead of doing his own thing trying to make a big play every second.

Also love the "pull the pants up to get to work" gesture he often does after he scores. Oats need to add the "work pants" to the hard hat award.

Do y’all think Healthy Bruner or Gurley will end up being better? I feel like When Gurley gets going he is gonna be real good.
