That's how they hired Dean Smith and Bill Guthridge. Matt Doherty and Roy were both UNC grads. It's just what they do and have done for decades. If they fire Hubert they'll just hire Stackhouse.

Yep - they are a very, very insular program/culture.

Hell yes, need good JD moving forward. Tonight was huge.

If we could get good JD and aggressive JQ at the same time, we could do some stuff.

And with the portal they can do what Kentucky did - supplement the superstar freshmen with 2-3 specific transfers who fit a role.

And Boeheim is going to be Syracuse's version of Dean Smith, which is why I'm not remotely concerned about them making a run at Oats when he retires. They will 100% hire someone who is currently on their staff or has been in the past.

Watching the video from right before the ejection, Oats told the ref 2-3 times to go ahead and T him a second time.

That thing is going to collapse and it's going to be awful playing in that tomb with 17-15 teams every year. They'll turn into Boston College.

Hell, I read last year that if he retired that they were prepared to hire Hopkins at Washington..............I mean what?

Somebody on Twitter is saying that one of the ref's told Nate, "don't start" less than a minute into the game.

It's a reputation now.

One area Bama deserves more credit is their FT shooting. 18-23 tonight (JQ, Rojas, Miles, JD all perfect). Alabama now 3rd in FT% in conference play.

No doubt

He's just got to be smarter about it. I mean, he said as much tonight.

Hopefully tonight's the beginning of a similar stretch to the one he finished last year on.

He was simply outstanding tonight.

I mean they should be thanking Washington every second of the day. That was for sure their choice while he was still on the staff, if they make that choice after seeing his Washington tenure, they deserve what is coming.

But but he does the zone

Yeah, he played with last year's tempo tonight. When he is at his best he's like a maestro changing speeds and getting guys off balance. Tonight was the first time he really seemed to "feel that" in a long time.
