Not really, the returning players are Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Sophomore and Sophomore. The rest that are major players are transfers.

It worked out fairly well last year, just have to have a good mix of transfers and returning/incoming players. Muss seemed to have thought we had capable guards this year to run the point if needed and it really has been a huge step down from Tate.

We do have a recruiting class of 5 coming in next year though so the transfer group should be smaller.

His stock continues to slip and deservedly so. I hope he finds his game because it’d be a huge asset to have him play like an actual 5* and not whatever the heck he’s been doing the past few outings.

An Auburn fan on the Rant just cracked the code on the NET stuff.

We all look at efficiencies on Torvik or KenPom and those are Opponent Adjusted. The NET efficiencies are NOT opponent adjusted by offense/defense. It's an Efficiency Number (by itself), a Strength of Opponent and a Game Location formula.

This is Women's but the new Men's one was changed to reflect this for the 2021-2022 season.

So, for instance

Alabama Ranks
Adjusted Defensive Efficiency : #45
Points Per Possession Defense (no opponent adjustment) : #146
Opponent Offensive SoS : #3

So, basically, we've played one of the 3 hardest schedules of opponent offenses in the country. Defensive Efficiency numbers account for this, the numbers the NET uses doesn't.

So we just assumed the NET was using a better method but instead they are using outdated ways to gauge teams?

Like, how in the world are you not using adjusted net efficiency instead of regular net efficiency?

Same here. I've been ready for this one for awhile, Coleman should be rocking. I've been hoping each team would hold serve until next week and that looks likely will after each played the last 2 days.

Will the football team make it back in time for Auburn half-time Foy trophy spectacle? Rtr

Too much hard work for determining something as meaningless as the NCAA tournament

Having the trophy presentation at half of the basketball game is so dumb. If you want to do a trophy presentation, do it after the iron bowl itself.

Some interesting numbers comparing last year's team to this years

% of shots at the rim
2021 : 41.4% (#56)
2022 : 39.6% (#110)

FG % on shots at the rim
2021 : 57.2% (#252)
2022 : 66.5% (#38)

% of shots in transition
2021 : 34.1% (#2)
2022 : 28.6% (#47)

eFG% --- After rebound, within 10s
2021 : 49.0% (#229)
2022 : 51.6% (#117)

eFG% --- After rebound, 11-30s
2021 : 52.2% (#72)
2022 : 43.1% (#283)

- We are much better finishers this year than last - makes sense, Herb was great but a terrible finisher and Shack wasn't very good either. And they both attempted it a ton. Ellis, JD, JQ are all very good at the rim and our bigs are near automatic.

- We are a much better transition team this year than last, but we do it less often. We're horrid when we get slowed down and have to play in the half court.

We are actually good at 2pt shots this year where as we were abysmal last year. If we can just get our 3pt % back to last years we would have something

I hope so. The SEC is really good this year. Home games must be won. Taking a road win from UF was a big boost.

I think this is one of the most important offensive numbers to get our offense where it needs to be this season.

Looks like Ala has had a couple stretches in conference like this one (21-2)

First over 3 seasons in the 50's, they went 23-2 (6-1 to end '54-55, 14-0 in '55-'56 and 3-1 to start '56-57).
Those were the Rocket-8 years!...I honestly remember them.

I know this is more of a recruiting post, but since nobody checks the recruiting board now that we're past NSD, I thought I'd post it here:

2022 Player Rankings from "The Circuit"
Twitter page link for "The Circuit"

The Circuit is a grassroots high school basketball site that follows all things amateur hoops. They know just as much about HS recruits as any of the "major" sites that are probably more interested in football recruiting anyways, so the rankings are legit. They differentiate players into more subset positions than my taste, but it's definitely informative.

Anyways, thought y'all would be interested to know that they say we will actually have 3 5*s coming in next year. Here are their SEC guys in the top 100:

2. 5* Chris Livingston - SF - UK
5. 5* Brandon Miller - SF - BAMA
8. 5* Nick Smith - CG - Arky
10. 5* Cason Wallace - CG - UK
13. 5* Jordan Walsh - "Dual" Forward - Arky
14. 5* Skyy Clark - PG - UK
15. 5* Rylan Griffen - CG - BAMA
18. 5* Jaden Bradley - PG - BAMA
19. 5* Lee Dort - PF - Vandy
26. 4* Julian Phillips - SF - LSU
32. 4* Malik Reneau - "Hybrid" Post - UF
36. 4* Noah Shelby - "Hybrid" Guard - Vandy
37. 4* Chance Westry - CG - Barn
67. 4* Colin Smith - SF - Vandy
73. 4* Noah Clowney - "Hybrid" Post - BAMA
74. 4* Malique Ewin - C - Ole Miss
77. 4* Derrian Ford - CG - Arky
85. 4* Aidan Shaw - SF - Mizzou
93. 4* BJ Edwards - CG - UT

I mean 3 5*s and another top 100 guy is unprecedented here. Great time to be a BOG.
