Got our asses kicked tonight in front of a hostile crowd. Hopefully the guys respond well. Memphis is a talented team. They finally put it together.

Beat JSU and Colorado State and come out 10-2 before Tennessee with wins over Houston and Gonzaga?? Thats an absolute win in my book

Losing sucks but most of us other than Fever saw it coming. The big concern I have going forward is rebounding. Our first shot defense can be pretty good but giving us so many 2nd and 3rd chances, it’s hard to build momentum and put a team away. They have to figure that out with quickness or it can kill the potential of this squad.

JD and JQ have trouble staying in front of people and we don’t rebound well....that’s worrisome

I've been around long enough to know these games happened but if I was Coach Oats...JQ & Shack would be coming off the bench with that piss poor effort. Nobody gets pissed on this team that's what I'm scared of! JP had that type of anger inside him and I loved it! I hate to say this but I will be glad to get Rojas back.

Yea, we have some issues at the 4.
Gurley just flat out appears to be an evaluation miss and Gary is great at his game but he's limited outside of it. And outside of those 2......I mean there's nobody else there.

It's not a good loss because of how we played, but if you know anything about basketball, you knew Memphis was capable of putting a game like this together. Penny has recruited too well there for them to keep losing like they have been.

Well that was ugly. Nice effort at the end to make it look better but too little too late. This is a rugged OOC stretch. Will pay off in March (hopefully).

they mirrored some of the same things Houston did to defend our kickout, like using a backside mirror defender.
I realize we want speed. but if we are running past our shots. every possession. we need to slow down. also, in the last 2 games, I've noticed if the shooters are heavily guarded, we just drive. be it good or bad. We don't have patience and try to work some motion to get guys open more often. there.is no excuse for.Shack trying his first 3, 30 minutes into the game.

Tennessee is going to kill Memphis. Memphis isn't good and this will be a bad loss for us at the end of the season

Oats said last year that how well you shoot can’t be the difference in winning and losing, it’s the difference in how much you win by. This year against a respectable team, it’s the difference in winning and losing because our defense and rebounding are bad (especially against athletic teams). We can’t stay in front of guards which draws our bigs and then leaves the other team’s big open for rebound or ally-oop. Need to figure it out or we aren’t going to be able to win 2-3 in a row against quality teams.
That said, if we win the next 3 “home” games, we will be in a really good position.
