I mean I know everything about him. Vividly remember him bursting onto the national scene kicking our arse in a 12/5 game. If he'd done the Iowa/Illinois stuff to us I'd probably despise him, but he didn't. I just don't really dislike him.

Right here with you SoG. But for the recording phone calls/informant deal he’s just not a hard guy to like. He’s a great coach and doesn’t mind having fun.

I think a lot of our fans see that he coached at Auburn and Tennessee and choose to blindly accept the group speak of “Pearl always dirty” instead of dispassionately looking at the situations.

This Auburn situation is the best example. A huge number of our fans simply refuse to acknowledge the facts (including the author of the SI article quoted just above). It was never a Wade/Miller/Nike situation at all. It was a rogue coach out for personal benefit. Even more amazing to me is how so many of our fans either don’t know or simply refuse to recognize that our BB program is currently on probation because we had an assistant AD doing the very same thing for the very same ‘advisor’ that was paying Person. We got lucky that our guy got involved last in the game so we didn’t get hit as hard - it was nothing more than pure luck. I get downvoted to high heaven every time I say that, it it is 100% absolute truth.

My head knows that we have a good team this year and one of the best coaches in the game.

My heart is still weak from years of Bama screwing around and losing to teams they should beat. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but part of me fully expects us to be cold as ice from the FT and 3 pt line tonight and lose a heartbreaker.

Help me Bama bros

Mistaken you’re a fricking dunce if you think beating 5-4 Memphis on a 3 game losing streak would be our best win. I completely agree we’ll get their best game, but the last two teams we played would shite on Memphis home, neutral, or away. Oats has heard the sentiment they might give us a scare and I’m sure the players are aware. We cover tomorrow take it to the bank

I stand by what I said. This would be the most impressive win of the season so far TO ME.

This just feels like a loss tonight tbh. I got a bad feeling Memphis puts it all together at home and plays unreal. Hope I’m wrong and will GLADLY eat crow

Edit: Also, this has gotta be Fevers alt.

Your concerns aren't unwarranted. It's a true road game against a talented but underperforming team a couple of days removed from a back alley street fight against one of the best teams in the country. It doesn't get more trap game than that.

I think it was moved from ESPN2 to ESPN at some point.

I won't go that far. Gonzaga in Seattle was off the charts.

Otherwise, I'm right there with you. It's got all the markings of a letdown game and Memphis has loads of talent. If they do win it comfortably, it'll say tons of positive things about where this team sits mentally.

Tonight is a big test - if we come out and control this one start to finish on short rest after the last 2 big wins.......this team might have officially turned into something.

It could go either way. Struggle early and give them confidence and we might be in for a fight. Punch them in the mouth early and they'll fold. They don't trust their coach who has been cutting them down publicly, and he can't coach them back.

This is a challenging game tonight.
Coming off a big emotional, probably most physical game we'll have all season.
I wouldn't be surprised if we're mentally not locked in. Thus, this being a sloppy type game with turnovers, missed free throws etc...
We're playing a struggling Memphis team, backs against the wall, desperate for a signature win.
No matter how we play, if we find a way to get the W, on the road, I'll be extremely impressed.

Even if they don't, it'll at very worst be a high-end quad 3 win. Baring a collapse, our OOC resume will be among the best in the country

Agreed on all points, especially the coach. Penny is a better recruiting but less likable and worse at coaching version of Avery Johnson.

I had no idea that Carver even played sports. It's a school of like 100 kids in SWATS. I don't even think they are an NCAA school - they play in that Christian College league - NCAAC or something. Having them play Division 1 games is just cruel.

Their closest game was a 30 point loss to the University of Mobile........who is NAIA.

Their halftime deficits so far this year

- Troy - down by 45
- Nicholls St - down by 28
- Kennesaw St - down by 36
- Citadel - down by 38
- Gardner-Webb - down by 38
- McNeese State - down by 19
- UT Martin - down by 30
- NC A&T - down by 24
- North Alabama - down by 25
- Georgia Southern - down by 29
- NCCU - down by 29
- Winthrop - down by 13
- Liberty - down by 27

Why are teams scheduling them?

I think it was said earlier, but if we win tonight, I’ll have full confidence that this team has turned the corner and we will be on a roll similar to last year.
