What did Sampson say in his press after the game,I haven't heard anything
Posted on 12/12/21 at 11:32 am to Mikewbama
He said it was goaltending, acted a little pissy and then moved on.

we need a coach in basketball that is willing to ruffle some feathers or do things a little differently to grab the attention of our fans and players.
Largely agree with your point, although I’m not sure “slighting” other coaches needs to be on that list (or at least not as blatantly). Either way, I hope the program and his coaching legacy will grow such that it won’t be necessary in the coming years.

but I think Oats being arrogant and a smug a-hole is why our team plays with confidence and believes they can beat good teams. We haven’t had that confidence under either of the previous two staffs.
Agree completely. Nate Oats is a dog

Count me in on loving having a cocky troll as a head coach (who can back it up). This program had been in desperate need of irrational confidence and swagger for 3 decades.
And mainly the fact that it isn't an act. It is who he is. He's brutally honest about himself, his team, college basketball overall, whatever is asked of him. His dudes are his dudes, he's going to war for them. He doesn't back down to shite.
And his teams absolutely emulate all of that behavior. The way he has changed the attitude of the program in 2+ years is remarkable considering how long it had been a meek, crawl into a shell when things got tough type program. He shattered all of that.

Not crazy about showing up another coach but Oats is exactly what this program needed to become relevant again.
Let's remember that Wimp wasn't exactly an angel either but it worked.

Sampson and his staff were acting like maniacs. I have zero issue with him standing there exaggerating the common postgame activity.

Yeah, there was one staff acting classless last night and it wasn't ours.
ETA: it was Sampson's son (assistant coach) that kicked and broke the chair.

I mean I have no issue with Samson Sr. arguing vehemently, but his son (the presumptive heir to the Houston head coaching position) acted like an insane 9 year old rec league dad coach. That shite was embarrassing.

We really had some opportunities up 81-79.
Keon with a wide open 3 that could have (maybe) been a dagger, and then Gary just misses a layup and we get a goaltending.
Only concerns right now are getting Keon’s confidence right, and working on the rebounding.
My only two cents on Oats are he could clean up the technicals - even if last nights was an odd one. He’s hurt the team with it at times (especially versus Iona).
The rest of it (calling out Coach K, the Will Wade/SEC tournament thing, the fake handshake, etc. ) is all fine by me.

Pospichal is 100% my favorite former assistant we've ever had. The dude knows how to act regardless of how his short stint ended here. The anti-Simon.

I agree on the technicals. To be honest though, the officials have had some very thin skin when compared to previous years. Oats doesn't seemed to have changed how he reacts to officiating. The change is how the officials have reacted to his reactions. Still though, he needs to start adjusting to it.

Ridiculous
Umm. Wut? What in the world is he even talking about?
Edit: OH, the handshake thing? Really, Dan?! That's your reaction to that? That Oats was the little punk? Some people apparently live in an alternate universe.
