UGA fans won’t care if the Braves pull it off.

Here's a few thoughts after attending the game yesterday: After scoring 7 points in the first 11 minutes, we scored 66 in the last 29.
Shack was terrible. Even worse than his shooting stats was his selfishness. There were multiple times he had the ball on the break with someone out ahead of him and he didn't even think about passing it ahead.
JD was a completely different player than I thought he would be. I expected him to be flamboyant and showy, but he was steady, unselfish and very workman like. Loved how he played.
Ellis could be a difference maker if he never took a shot. The game changed when they put him guarding the point guard. Their offense just stopped after that happened. Keon gave the guy fits full court and got several steals just harassing the guy on his dribble. The fact that Keon shot well makes it even better. Just not sure he has the personality to be a vocal leader.
Bediako was not good the first 25 or so minutes. But the last 10-15 minutes he came alive. He pulled rebounds that he had no business getting. He had a couple of nice blocks late also.
Miles is still very inconsistent. You can see the potential and how athletic he is, he's still a little ways away from being a big help.
Holt is a year away.
It was fun sitting directly across from the bench in a relatively quiet gym. We had the opportunity to see/hear just how hard this coaching staff works on every possession. The entire staff is very vocal and intense when making sure guys are doing what they are supposed to be doing. CNO took a timeout with right at 2 minutes left in the first half when Bama gave up a quick 3 that UL just walked into with no Bama players matching up. I think that timeout carried over into the halftime talk and we say a different Defensive intensity in the second half.

This is why I didn't mind him leaving. He doesn't need to be a second point guard on this team. He's not good at it and we can't afford "on the job" training for his NBA aspirations. We all know that Q and JD need to be the point guards for this team.

No, I wasn't the guy on IG live. I had better seats than that view!
Plus I'm too old to do that type of social media advanced skills.

I'm glad he returned, especially since we lost Burnett. But, I definitely don't see him being a good pg, and I just don't think he's going to be an NBA player anyway. I appreciate his hustle. He's sneaky good offensively (sometimes). He's improved on defense. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. I'm sure Oats isn't going to let him be a primary ball handler, if he consistently fricks it up. So, no reason for concern, in my opinion.

That's not a PG play though. That's a dude who has zero court vision trying to brute force some points. Running the break and throwing the ball away would be Shack trying to be a PG even though he's not one. If anything we need him to play more like a PG in transition because he's really bad at getting his own shot or foul baiting in those situations.

Oh I was gonna say what a gangster if you were. But still thanks for the info.
Maybe shacks dad has ruined him by being in his ear too much. He’s trying to force his way to the NBA.

Agree. JD is a winner. His last layup was as clutch as it gets, then hitting four free throws to seal the game. JD is a winner, period. He had several turnovers going to the basket and trying to pass to Bediako or someone else inside, but not sure those were all completely his fault. When he had to win it, he scored it himself. Shack, on the other hand, seemed always intending to take the shot himself when he went to the basket - and was 0 for 7 on his drives. We missed Quinerly, and JD I think defered to Shack too much, but we could be real dangerous with JD and JQ on the court at the same time. Shack should work on his 3 point shots.

Shack is a terrible finisher most of the time, I’m not sure why he keeps trying to take it to the basket. He just needs to accept who he is as a player to help the team. I think he could score plenty of points and still not force drives. He doesn’t have the vision required to be that type of guy. He needs to play off his strength of shooting and use that to draw defenders to him and dish instead of trying to be the flashy guy all the time.

Bama basketball is better with Shack than they would be without Shack. At least that's my opinion. BUT, this might be one of those situations where the information a player received from the NBA on what he needs to improve on, isn't what's best for the team he's currently on. Shack isn't the size of an NBA 2 guard, so he does need to improve his ballhandling and ability to distribute the ball. But Bama has plenty of those guys, and Shacks best role for us is a catch and shoot 3 point shooter.
Hopefully yesterday was just a bump in the road. Shoot, there was one play where Shack was out in front of everyone, the ball was thrown to him and he fumbled it, got control at the rim, then threw it away. Thats more of a concentration type mistake than anything.

My only ought with what you said is that you called Shack SELFISH but if he was like you claimed Shack wouldn't have led in REBOUNDS now I understand that at times he gets tunnel vision but one thing everybody needs to understand is that Shack is a natural SCORER. Do you think he would of played like that if Jahvon was playing? Probably not! Did he struggle? Yes...He was forcing some times here and there but after an exhibition game I'm not going to claim we don't need him in all that or that he's selfish because neither is TRUE. I think he knew they were going to be without Jahvon so my opinion is that he pressed a lot.

If Shack made those shots there wouldn't be anyone saying he was terrible point blank period.

true but he was all over the board with %'s last year.
