Still like Oats, love the look of the class coming in and hope that we make smart portal additions to shift the culture back. Wish it was November 2022 already. Roll tide.

If the worst year we get under Oats is a first-round exit, I'll obviously take it. The class we have coming in is ridiculous and the transfer portal should only help. I'm obviously upset we lost but I'm also equally excited about next year with some new talent and hopefully a culture change.

Everything he says is true. Still it was a disappointing team since January.

Holy hell

I asked Oats for more context about Quinerly being the only player at last night’s shootaround.

I just can't see Nate Oats as the type of guy who casually puts up with a roster of players who don't care. I'd be shocked if that isn't fixed.

This scares the hell out of me moving forward.
It’s concerning, but keep in mind that last year’s seniors (Petty, Herb, Reese) had been through multiple coaching staffs, bubble heartbreak, and a ton of SEC ball. Nobody on the roster at the beginning of this season had even experienced much adversity. Hell, nobody getting meaningful minutes on this current roster has ever missed the NCAA tournament at Alabama. Think about that. It’s almost impossible to replace that kind of leadership in the locker room.

Nate Oats said Jahvon Quinerly’s intention was to “test the draft process” and turn professional, but the injury will “put a kink in his plans.”

Point is we return more plus our recruiting class. Uk, us, ark, and tenn will be top 4 in any order. Would be shocked if it looks any other way preseason. Half the conference will have new coaches

Any one saying fire Oats is an idiot. But he needs to evaluate his philosophy.

I can do you one better

But you have to remember a broken clock is correct twice a day

Posted after the loss to A&M....I only got 4 downvotes

Probable

Loss to LSU
Loss in round 1 of the SEC
Loss in round 1 of the NCAA
Put away the jocks and socks
Nate will/needs to cull his roster. You don't want to bring back the same problems for next season.

I still love the system. I also think it requires the right guys to run it well, and when you don't have them it can look super clunky.

I do too!
Also, this style opens the door for a lot more prospects for us. Oats has a specific idea of what he wants and is gonna look for, and that may include some kids that don't fit the Kansas, Kentucky, etc. type of kid.

Tennessee had a similar end to their season last year and fans were not happy with Barnes, but look where they are now.

I understand what you’re saying, and I’m not saying that we should fire Oats, but he has to shoulder some blame.

Also, it’s not fair to remotely compare Oats and Barnes. Oats could very well end up being a great, but at this point, it’s like comparing Saban to Tom Herman

The system works but the system is also predicated on playing above-average defense.

Agreed - we had tons of issues, as we've all noted, but not having a confident attacking PG who turned the offense on was a huge problem. Hopefully the kid coming in, along with a veteran portal guy, can be that kind of player by around Christmas next season.

Here's the problem. What makes next year's roster much different as of right now? Outside of who may come in the portal, our only positivity is coming from a freshmen class that's not even on campus yet.

Now, if Oats can pull in some tested, strong willed AND SKILLED leaders, I think it can work. If we start next year with a bunch of freshmen and a few guys from this year's roster, we might be in big trouble.

I am fairly confident he can pull some good transfers though. When I see that, I'll have more confidence for next year.

This is unacceptable. You would think that the bench warmers would have been there

And in a funny way jq's injury may have him back here next year and that would be massive. The kid loves alabama , we gave him that fresh start after his family was shamefully drug thru the mud for 2 years. Could be the first time an injury results in a positive for us. He helped change our program in a positive course and id love to see his scoring back to add to the newcomers

Prob jq now, burnett, gurley, bediako, and probably gary. Add that to our freshmen and pringle. Again look at us, uk, ark, and tenn. Everyone outside those 4 didnt make tournament or is massively depleted. A&M could be the 5th teamr
