Oats is going all in on winning next year and I am happy about it. We have all the pieces now to make a run at the championship, maybe the best guard lineup in the country, a good experienced versatile big guy in Gurley that can play the 4 or the 5, some really talented young bigs, good role players.

Someone has to leave right? I would assume Miles or KAH. That would suck, but to be honest I don’t know how either sees the floor next year.

Someone already may have been planning on leaving to get more playing time somewhere else.

Yeah that's what it's looking like. I'll reiterate that I don't particularly care for the practice of replacing freshmen with grad transfers from a roster continuity standpoint, but even without Gurley I'm not sure either of those guys would have played much next year. I think it's probably going to end up being KAH just because his ceiling is likely above average upperclassman role player.

247Sports’ national basketball analyst Travis Branham shares his thoughts on UA’s newest pledge:

"Gurley is a very talented power forward with high upside making him a big pickup for the Tide as someone who can not only come in to contribute right away in a variety of ways but also someone who can continue to be developed.

"Physically, Gurley possesses terrific physical tools for the position with good size, long arms and a lean frame that will continue to fill out. He also is an impressive athlete with mobility, fluidity and bounce as he maneuvers around both ends of the floor.

"Offensively, Gurley is an effective and talented pick-and-pop power forward who can make shots on the perimeter and can face his man up and attack him off the bounce. Given his length, athleticism, hands and touch, he also makes for an effective weapon in the pick-and-roll who can catch lobs and finish in traffic around the rim and as he gets stronger and polishes his handle both areas will continue to improve as a pick-and-pop and pick-and-roll scorer who can also manipulate mismatches on the perimeter and block.

"Defensively, Gurley is a switchable defender who is also a capable rim protector and a plus-rebounder. With added weight and strength, he will also continue to improve on this end of the floor as he will improve on the block."

"Gurley already impacts the game in a variety of ways and given his framework and skillset he can continue expanding and developing to continue enhancing his impact at the collegiate level."

We made the sweet 16, finished the season ranked 5th, have arguably the top ranked class coming in if you count transfers. This Nate Oats guy might be pretty good huh?

Props to Hodgson too, he is proving to be one of the top college bball recruiters in the country.

Hodgson looks like a likable dude. You can see why recruits love him.

He reminds me of that cool uncle that lets you drive his nice cars and let’s you and your girlfriend stay the night for seggs.

Take them all to Coleman, put them on the free throw line, whomever shoots the worst percentage out of 50 FTs gots to go

I agree with you. I don't grad transfers are a winning formula in the long run. I think if KAH is the one to leave, we can probably feel confident that he didn't show much in practice this past season.

You guys know Saban would've done this exact same thing if he was the Bball coach. We have a group of guards good enough to be able to win the whole thing next year, we don't need to mess it up by having a lack of experience in the front court.

I mean at this point we have an offensive threat at every position on the floor. 1-5 could stroke it at any time.

We aren't very big, but we should be super athletic.

JQ, Ellis, Primo, Gurley, and Tchikou would be a fun lineup if they can play adequate defense.

Robot, we ain’t leaving JD on the bench. One of those guards is sitting. Glad I don’t have to choose which one!
