It has been very quiet after the visits

Getting more confident on Miller since, other than Branham, who still implied that Bama leads, really no crystal ball/ future cast changes since he changed his commitment date and added Kansas. I expected Kansas to get a bunch of predictions. Maybe he will go there or to the G League, but I guess no news seems like good news on Miller. Noticed Rylan Griffin and family were still in town for the charity game Sunday. That is good news. This time next week, we will know alot.

“Thanks, Travis! Do you still like Bama’s chances?”

“I do”

Four-star forward Noah Clowney discusses three finalists ahead of decision

Noah Clowney, the No. 62 overall prospect in the 2022 Composite Rankings, is down to three finalists and just days away from making his college decision.

On Monday, November 1st, Clowney will put an end to his recruitment, choosing between Alabama, Indiana and Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-9, 205-pound power forward out of Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman caught up with 247Sports ahead of his decision, breaking down his finalists and what he is looking for in his future home.

Indiana: "The head coach has been to the NBA so there's good coaching there and a lot of good recruits that would be coming in with me. I feel like it's a great place."

Alabama: "They play a fast play-style. A lot of people say it's just guards running up and down but from being there and watching and doing my own research, it's been that way because of the circumstances they've been in and the coaches have expressed to me that I will be a part of the offense there. I like them, it's great, the place is amazing."

Virginia Tech: "They play through their bigs and they have shown that so I am going to get touches and the play-style is nice. There is a lot of good there, it's a nice place and a great staff."

What is he looking for in his future program?

"Primary things is play-style, skill development, I want to be in a place where if I wasn't playing basketball then I would still want to go there," he said. "A great place and on top of that being around good people."

The South Carolina native is one of the more intriguing prospects in the country. He has terrific size, length and athleticism and is oozing with potential.

He has good hands, is bouncy in space and has a budding offensive skillset. Clowney has high upside on both ends of the floor and has the ability to make for an outstanding rebounder, defender, rim-protector, rim-runner and lob-catcher who can make shots off the catch and develop an attack game off the bounce.

I don’t wanna be a Debbie Downer but...even if Brandon Miller commits and signs(which is looking likely) we are still gonna have to worry until he is actually enrolled because he can change his mind and go G-League at any moment

It is certainly going to be an interesting first few days of the week. Five-star Brandon Miller is set to announce on Monday (live on CBS Sports HQ at 2pm ET) and four-star Noah Clowney will announce the same day. Five-star Jarace Walker will announce his decision a few days later.

Currently, I’ve got a Crystal Ball pick in for Miller to select Alabama over Kansas, Tennessee State and professional options. Simply adding the skilled scorer to a recruiting class that already includes Jaden Bradley would move Alabama’s class to No. 18 nationally.

In addition to Alabama, Clowney is also considering Indiana and Virginia Tech. I’ve not yet made a Crystal Ball pick for him, but if I did, I’d probably go with Indiana. The Hoosiers class will go from No. 12 to No. 9 if they land him. Should Alabama add him (and Miller) then the Tide would be the team finishing the day with the No. 9 class.

Last you have Walker who is making a final visit to Houston this weekend. He’s also got Auburn on the list with Alabama. As of today, I still lean slightly towards Alabama to land him but I’m not sure it is quite a done deal. I would assume Alabama has made him aware of how they can play he and Miller (assuming Miller picks them) but you never know if an actual commitment could change anything. Not to mention, Bruce Pearl is still pushing hard and has proven he can’t be counted out and you never know what could happen at Houston this weekend. So, for today I’ll say I like Alabama’s chances best but there’s going to be a lot of speculation and rumors about Walker between now and next week’s decision day. For the sake of fun with the Class Calculator, let’s say Bama does land Walker. If they added him to a class of Bradley and Miller, then they would move all the way to No. 8. If they are somehow able to add Clowney too, then they would move all the way to No. 2 based on current team rankings.

No matter what, it looks like next week will be good to Nate Oats and Alabama, it is just a question of how good?

I didn’t want to quote the whole article, but I feel like this next week and this ‘22 recruiting class has the chance to change the perception of Alabama basketball for the foreseeable future. It would prove that last year was not a flash in the pan since now we can recruit on a high enough level to sustain that level of play year in and year out with Oats at the helm. I think it could also do that for the administration and boosters so that the program gets the funding it needs to update the coliseum or build a new one and upgrade all the facilities accordingly.

If we could reel in 3 5*s in one class with Bradley, Miller, and Walker and potentially Griffen and Clowney to go with them, that would be pretty monumental, especially with everyone we’ll most likely lose this next year. That Houston visit scares me and no knowing what Pearl has up his sleeves, but this next week may go down as program altering for the future. We’re already an great program as it is, but this would solidify that to everyone else as well and show we’re not planning on that changing anytime soon.

I feel the opposite. If he had that strong of feelings towards the G-League then Kansas wouldn't have been included in his final teams.

Top 30 point guard London Johnson names his top 12

Top 30 point guard London Johnson has come out with his top 12 schools. The four-star will be choosing between Xavier, USC, Houston, NC State, Clemson, North Carolina, Auburn, Virginia, Wake Forest, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. So far Johnson has visited all the schools in his top 12 except North Carolina and Houston which he plans on visiting in the future.

“Mainly, my family and I are looking for a style of play that fits my style and a coaching staff that we have a good connection with,” he said. “Also we are looking at the history of point guards that have been at each school.”

Johnson spoke on some of the schools in his top 12 with 247Sports.

Virginia: “I had a great visit to Virginia actually and I have a good connection with the coach. I also got to watch one of their practices that I liked. I liked how the coach coaches and how he allows the assistant coaches to help out. They also have a screen in there which will replay your previous play which can help you on anything you have done wrong. They also have a shooting machine that shows you your arc and if it needs to be improved.”

UNC: “Our relationship is pretty good, I like Hubert Davis. He tells me how he really likes my game and will come out to watch me more. I feel like I'll learn everything I need to learn from them on the visit.”

NC State: “My visit was good, I actually went for their Midnight Madness so it was pretty fun being there. Before the Midnight I got to see campus and watch their practice. Mainly with them I liked the energy in practice and I like coach Keatts as well. He gives good energy and is a very relatable coach.”

Alabama: “My visit there was pretty good. I have a pretty good relationship with coach Pettway. I also got to watch a practice which was cool because I got to watch the point guards JQ and JD Davison. I like their style of play. They play a fast paced tempo. I feel like I could use the pick and roll well to help everybody on the team get better along with myself.”

One of the Auburn recruiting guys just went from extremely confident in Johnson going to Auburn to saying he’s definitely not. UVA now the expected landing spot.

Any insight from your mods regarding Walker? I went over to the AU board and didn’t see much other than TT saying Bama should be investigated if we land him

What are the advantages to G-League since NIL has been passed? A full year in the G-League gets you 35k. If a 5-star comes here and cant get that out of NIL deals, we are doing something wrong

The G-League team created for kids who aren't old enough for the draft can sign them for much more than that. The kids who went that route last year all got in excess of a quarter million from what I recall.

Petty's contract in Birmingham is for $85K, and that's for 5 months of G League. Like Donta, Levi, Retin, and others, he can then go overseas and play in the other months. For example, Levi played on a two way contract with Cleveland last year, then in New Zealand over the summer, and currently is playing for the most successful team in Belgian history. Lots of good jobs in basketball for an enterprizing young man. He is and has been making solid money for awhile.
