So John petty will probably end up competing in Summer league for a spot. Probably will go Donta hall route.

Take a minute to really sit back and think about where our basketball program is compared to Avery’s last year. It’s incredible how quickly Oats changed the culture!

Two first rounders is awesome. First time since ‘95, I think? I was on the fence about Primo, but he obviously made the right decision. SA is a class organization and a great place for him to develop. Herb and Kira in NOLA is amazing too. Going to be fun to see what they can do for the Pels. That’s about as good as we could have hoped for tonight. Great draft for the guys and the team. Really happy and proud for both of them and I’m glad they ended up in spots that give them a real chance to flourish.

If Petty can get healthy and polish his ball handling or find a way to get more consistent shooting, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make a roster in a couple years. “Hot John Petty” is still one of the best shooters I’ve seen in Tuscaloosa. If he can figure out how to catch that fire a little more regularly, he could definitely make a solid pro career out of it.

I’ve seen things about the Pelicans needing shooters to surround Zion, and that’s probably true (although who doesn’t need shooters?), but I just have a lot of faith that Herb will succeed no matter where he goes.

Oats has so much to sell to recruits now. Pretty much every box is checked. We play in a fun system, we win games, and our players get drafted.

Honestly though, I'm just really proud of Herb. Getting drafted is a huge accomplishment for someone who we have been repeatedly informed is actually mentally retarded. I'm pretty surprised none of the NBA teams picked up on it. If it was so obvious to a true basketball savant like saban n bear you'd think it would have been obvious to guys being paid millions of dollars to make personnel decisions for NBA teams.

Dang. This video of Herb being drafted got me. The dude worked his arse off and the improvement he made with his shot made him a borderline first in a STACKED class. So happy for him. With some guys, it's just so easy to root for them.

I think JD and Tchikou both will be lottery picks in next years draft. As we saw with Primo, it’s not necessarily what kind of season you have. With the NBA, it’s more about potential

I definitely agree, but with Primo most people said he had one of the best combine workouts they've ever seen. I also think a lot of these decisions are based on interviews and workouts (individual and combine) which Primo apparently aced. Happy for both Herb and Primo. I'll be interested to see where Petty goes. I hate it for him, but if he gets hot during summer league he can make a roster. His shot is tantalizing with his unbelievably high release point.

Petty's problem is versatility, or rather the lack thereof. He's a 3&D wing skill set in a smallish 2 guard body. He will have to develop the consistency with his shot be never was able to find in college. If he can turn himself into a year in and year out 40% 3pt shooter then he will get some looks as an instant offense bench guy. Those type players can have long careers.
