Griffen will steal minutes from somebody. He's going to do any and everything to get on the court.
Miles & Gurley better step it up honestly.

I doubt him and Gurley share many minutes. Griffen is playing more guard, unless Sears and Quin are both on the court. Miles might take a few minutes. But I'm also in the camp to give Griffen more minutes, just because he hustles so hard and has obvious potential to also play great offense.
But as ugly as Miles looked in the game he played, i should give him more of a chance before judging. I'm pretty sure i read he was questionable for that game, and then he got hurt during it. But I'm definitely skeptical that help take the next step to be a major conference starter level talent. I hope I'm proven wrong.

Hard for me to see Griffen getting many minutes when Welch and Miles come back.
I disagree with this 100%. Welch’s stats and tape aren’t anything special, especially at a very small school. My ceiling for this guy is slightly better than Ar’mond Davis. And I already like Griffen better than Miles or Gurley.
Griffen is the 3rd leading scorer on the team right now and 5th in rebounding. Miles isn’t taking this guys minutes lol

St. Bonaventure is a well known basketball school in the best non-P6 conference. Shooting 37.4% from 3 over 687 career attempts is very impressive.

Because he’s taking a lot of shots. Only shooting 35% from the field and 17% from 3. He’s been the main reason why our team 3P% is relatively poor. Remove him and we’d be nearly 4 points higher at 37%.
Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Griffen, but he’s going to have to make some more shots if he doesn’t want his minutes taken by Welch.

He was a role player and he played his role great, we recruited him to play that same role for us, knock down threes, play elite D, and rebound.
I hope he turns out to be a solid backup. I just don't expect anything more than that. Yes, he averaged 12 pts a game at St. Bonaventure. But that was in 37 minutes. Barring injuries, I don't see him getting half that many minutes.
Anyway, it's good to have depth and options.

I really like Griffen, nothing I said was meant to be a knock on him. Just my opinion that Welch will take a lot of the minutes Griffen is getting if he can get healthy, I might be wrong.

Late to the posting party, but I was downright giddy watching this team play in the second half against Jax State.
The ceiling is as high as it’s ever been. We haven’t even seen this team’s potential yet. We are long, defensively sound, fast as hell, and talented. Miller could be the very best we’ve ever had when this season is over.
Interesting that while we played sloppy against USA, we still looked two levels better. The scoreboard didn’t show it. I’ve just logged one season as a varsity head coach and my team had a similar start. We kept grinding and by the seasons end we broke the school record for points in a game and then broke that the next week. We knew we were getting there but then it just started clicking and we went all gas no brakes the rest of the way. I feel a similar excitement watching this Tide team.
You can really see a change in this squad from last year, the energy is just right with this group. Can’t wait to see this Bama team fully gelled and locked in later in the year.

Looks like we are the highest rated team by KenPom in the tournament. No excuse not to go 3-0

I expect nothing less.

If we did go 3-0 against Sparty, Uconn and UNC, how high would climb in the rankings?
Second question: then how far would we fall by dropping the next game to South Dakota State?

That’d be the most definite loss in alabama basketball history. We would all know it’s coming.

And it would happen on a last second shot in a game that was that close as a result of us committing 23 turnovers, going 3-27 from 3, and some slow, 6'8" white kid from Nebraska scoring a career high 33 (previous career high of 12) on the back of an 8-11 performance from 3 that he never comes close to replicating again.

Any guesses on what the spread will be?
