Eh, Ritter has been in here complaining with us since the late Grant/early Avery days

Those were days of White-Collar Crime basketball. As in the university was robbing me of time and money following most of those teams.

I think if you asked a random basketball fan what does “blue collar basketball” look like, they would probably agree with the original poster that it’s big men banging down low.

I just associate it with players who are less talented but build careers on being tough and playing max effort. Mizzou has a bunch of dudes who fall into that category. I really don't think playing style has anything to do with it. If it's a misnomer it's more because we have a bunch of former 4 and 5 star recruits on the roster.

I’m not saying the team isn’t tough. I’m saying I have a hard time identifying a team that plays a modern, fast tempo, rim and 3 style as “blue collar basketball.”

What does an offensive play style have to do with being a Blue Collar team? Blue Collar is about doing the dirty work that often goes unnoticed by the casual on-looker. It has nothing to do with offense, other than offensive boards (which we're elite at). It has a lot to do with effort plays like being the first to the ball which we're literally one of the best in the country at doing. This argument that we aren't a Blue Collar team seems like a weird hill to die on.

If you went to a job site and played a pickup game, the guys aren’t gonna talk about rim-and-three rate or analytics. They’re probably gonna bang you down low and outmuscle you.

When I hear “Blue Collar basketball”, I think 80s Pistons. A team 2nd in adjusted tempo per Kenpom, which we are, reminds me more of the Showtime Lakers.

no one is dying on any hill. The term doesn’t actually mean anything, so there is no right or wrong answer.

It just doesn’t resonate for me with this team.

I didn't realize this series as so close.

Ala leads 75-71. Ala has won 7 of the last 10.

most good and great teams I watch have this kind of hustle etc. What makes Bama different then say Mich state or Conzaga. They just dont call attention to it by awarding a hard hat after every game. Some of you make it sound like Oats invented hustling for loose balls and taking charges.

It's just a way to keep up with the hustle plays.

Stop whining about it. Gheesh. I'm not sure why it bothers you so much. It's pretty irrelevant.

I can't believe we've taken up multiple pages debating the meaning of blue collar basketball. Really hoping for a double digit win tonight so we can finally move on from Saturday.

I'm looking forward to getting back into Coleman tonight myself. Win tonight and that's an 8-1 January. Nobody complaining about that.

Time to start another win streak. I think Vandy is going to be the unlucky recipient of a pissed off Alabama team beatdown.

Time for Bediako to get out of his funk and/or Pringle to start asserting himself.

Time for Clowney and Sears to rediscover that 3 point stroke.
