Our Kenpom ranks in the particular categories listed here are as impressive as anyone's in the country. Might be the most impressive actually.

Hey George, if you're reading this...

I could really go for an SOG special soon.

I've grown accustomed to a certain kind of lifestyle and one of your deep dives into the metrics is part of that. Hook us up if you've got some free time.

It's tough to say no to that, but I think we can go 2-1 @Mizzou, @Auburn, and @LSU.

Tough five game stretch coming up.

Kentucky
@ Arkansas
LSU
@ Vanderbilt
@ Missouri

There is a non zero chance that we could go 2-3 here if the guys aren't focused or if we run into a bit of bad luck.

It is tough to say no to.

I think we are 0-2 @ Missouri in the Oats era if i'm not mistaken. And they are playing some good basketball right now.

We know @ Auburn can be a really tough environment.

I have no idea what to think about LSU tbh. They've played one of the absolute worst non con schedules in the country, then won a home game against Arkansas that was a borderline rock fight at 60-57. Arkansas had already lost Brazile at that point, Nick Smith was out and they shot 4/25 on 3PA. Then they lost @UK by three last night, but UK doesn't really seem like a great team yet this year so I don't how impressive that actually is either.

Right now the SEC feels like it has 4-5 teams clearly at the top and potentially vying for a conference championship, 8-9 teams well below them and then South Carolina at the bottom of the barrel.

I think LSU will be pretty Jekyll and Hyde all year. Our length and defense should give them fits, think we're an awful matchup for them.

As far as tiers go, I'd have it:

Bama
UT

Arkansas
Missouri
Auburn

Kentucky
LSU
Miss State

The rest

I think any more than 7 tournament teams will be a stretch for the league. 6.5 would be a good over/under. I think Auburn and Kentucky could trade places in the tiers as well, I'm not sure how much better Auburn is going to get this year.

My one fear is Chuck. He’s starting to be bullied down low

Oscar looked really good last night — think he had a double-double.

I'm a little concerned about Chuck having to handle him.

Think we'll have to throw Pringle and Gurley out there too and hope 15 fouls will slow him down.

That's tough to turn down but I think we can escape with a win against Arkansas while they're a bit more banged up than us and I'm not exactly sold on LSU yet, and like someone else mentioned, we match up very well against them. I'm being greedy but I would risk it for a better Q1 record.

Our young guys are only going to get better, Welch and JQ continue to get more comfortable, Burnett being back before LSU, and upsets always happen but with how this roster is built we're a pretty tough out and hopefully can maintain the undefeated record at home.

He just makes no sense to me. You know he is capable of it because he will sometimes have games like UNC. But it just doesn't show up often enough.

Didn't think that during the offseason I would be calling for more minutes for Pringle instead of Bediako the first week of January but here we are.

In the interest of easing stress over this Kentucky game where we'll be pretty big favorites, here are some of their numbers

Efficiency in their last 10 games
Offense: 34th
Defense: 102nd

Efficiency in games versus Top-100 teams
Offense: 156th
Defense: 103rd

Efficiency in games versus Top-50 teams
Offense: 168th
Defense: 120th

If we were playing any other random team with the exact numbers as Kentucky, we'd be a 10 point favorite.
But Vegas oddsmakers will bring that down to about a 7 point spread.

No, 13-5 probably doesn’t win the conference and I think we can win the conference.

UT’s schedule is a lot easier than ours though

Should be a great environment Saturday. I just hope we don't go 3/30 from the 3 point line again. That was wild last year.
