This team is the most talented top to bottom that I can remember and I have been following Bama hoops since the late 70’s. Obviously Oats is a great evaluator of talent and can recruit but I’m still unsure of his in game coaching. Up 25 at one point and Ole Miss cuts it to 15 with 6 to play and still no timeouts. Not to mention Chuck fires a three during this little run they have. Secondly the 40 footer that Miller hits with 2 seconds on the shot clock - is that really the best look we can get in that situation? I mean what if it that was the time left in the game and we are down. Is that the shot we want?

Loved the game. Defense to offense our guys played lights out. My one fear is Chuck. He’s starting to be bullied down low and it’s been happening since the Gonzaga game. Hopefully he finds it in him to get angry play with the same fire he had in the first few games.

We’re up to 8th in Kenpom. 14th in defensive efficiency despite missing arguably our best defender for 40% of our games

Welch hasn't done much yet offensively. But he's been getting good minutes. I need to pay closer attention to his D. But I haven't seen him getting abused. The fact he's been going under the radar is a good sign until he gets his 3 to start falling. Because he hasn't made many mistakes.

Welch defense is top tier. There was multiple plays last night where he defended multiple guys in a possession just like JP, Keon, & Herb use to do.

I haven’t picked up on that yet. His lateral movement is stiff, but that’s more than understandable. He’ll be very valuable moving forward

No. 7/7 Alabama Defense Stifles Ole Miss in 84-62 Win Over the Rebels

The No. 7/7 Alabama men's basketball team won its third straight game, defeating Ole Miss 84-62 in its Southeastern Conference home opener Tuesday night. With the win, the Crimson Tide improves to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in SEC play. Alabama's 12-2 start to the season is UA's best since the 2014-15 campaign.

HEAD COACH NATE OATS POSTGAME COMMENTS
"When competing for an SEC Championships, you have to take care of your home games. We got the win tonight. I've made a big point emphasis on the turnovers, and they were way down. I thought we were much better there tonight, and I thought our defense was decent. We were obviously assisted by them not shooting the three well. I was a little disappointed with our effort once we built the lead up there in the middle of the second half. I think we have got to do a better job of closing games playing hard, whether you've got a lead or it's a tight game. I think even at Mississippi State, we didn't close that game great either. We've got to do a better game closing out games with the lead, but that is a good spot to be in now where you must worry about closing games with the lead. I'm happy with the guys' effort, we need to do a better job on the glass.  They outrebounded us by 10 in the second half, so that is an issue, which is going to be a big issue against Kentucky (Saturday). All in all, I'm happy with the guys. I think the ball moved and we took care of it. Our guys made shots, and it was a good night overall. We're just going to have to clean up a few things."

Per the great @DavidWorlock, this year marks the second shortest run of unbeatens since 1976-77. Final unbeaten, New Mexico, lost last night. In 2017-18, Arizona State, Villanova and TCU all lost on Dec 30.

Not that surprising. Scheduling has changed a ton since NET was adopted.
