4 hours ago Dom posted an IG video of him walking through thick snow in Buffalo so I’m assuming he’s stuck there for awhile…

Until Byrne says something besides “construction is expensive. We’re still evaluating things” over and over while spending countless dollars on football, then yes I’m gonna continue to doubt. Yes I think he wants an arena and we’ll get one, but I think it’s probably YEARS away.

Completely agree. Basketball is seen as a luxury item. If there is a sufficient surplus of money to spend we will get a new arena, but no sooner. It will never, ever be a priority item for Alabama, as much as is frustrates the shite out of us.

I think "The Ninja" gets it done a lot sooner than people think!
I believe in you Ninja if nobody else does.

If he gets it done sooner than anyone expects, I’ll give him all the credit he deserves and won’t doubt him again. But as of this second, he’s caved to football. Not sure any AD could really do anything differently here with football being king tho, so I can’t be that mad at him. Just kinda how it is at a school like this unfortunately. The people with the money control everything and 99% of our donors don’t give af about basketball.

Im sure inflation and supply chain issues were a factor, but I wonder how much of the decision to delay had more to do with donor $$$ shifting to NIL collectives and away from other AD pots of money.

Yeah, I think inflation was bad for the arena, but NIL was probably even worse. I hope they get some controls on NIL pretty quickly

Did you see this football class we signed? Zero Chance of a new arena, hell I doubt basketball will ever have another class like we just had. Too much money gotta go to Footbaw recruiting

Any updates on Welch out of practice? Figured the start of SEC play may be the target of his day view

I think inflation and the NIL collectives have pretty much doomed a new arena. I mean even Oats has said if you are going to donate, donate to the collective. More important to have great players playing in a dump than Grant level talent in brand new arena.

Bill Battle pissed away enough income to pay for a new arena when he 'extended' UA's contract with Nike. Maybe Byrne could try to strike a deal with Nike or any company to "fund" one with their 'name' on it.
