At a neutral site against Drake? We've won neutral/road games against 3 teams better than Drake already (Michigan State, UNC, Houston) so.........yes?

We played a better Drake team at a neutral site last year and won.

The minutes matter. He’s one of the best on the team in turnovers per 100 possessions, at 3.7. Quinerly and Miles are averaging 2 and 3 times as many.

Where are you getting your stats from? Not doubting them, I'm just curious about a good site.

The end of the Florida game brings up a question I’ve always wondered. At the end of the game when a team is down and has to foul, why do they never commit off ball fouls against the worst FT shooter (i.e. grab arms, bumping him out of bounds), and instead let the best FT shooter dribble around a while before eventually fouling them? This has become especially curious since they did away with the 5 seconds closely guarded rule.

You’re right I think it was neutral. Still Q2 since Drake is ranked in the NET top 100.

How are you guys feeling about the next 4 game stretch?

@Miss St
Ole Miss
Kentucky
@Arkansas

I’d feel great if we win those first two then split the last two. If we go 4 and 0 I hope one of ya’lls got some bail money.

Alabama, once again, has proven it can't be consistent each and every night.
Primarily, it comes down to overcoming the massive number of turnovers that plague this team every game.
So, to expect them to go 4-0 over this stretch is fantasy. Possible, sure, but I wouldn't count on it.
What this team better learn fast is how to bounce back and clean up after a bad game.
This league has enough quality teams that winning 3 out of every 4 will probably win the regular season.

@Miss St isn't a gimme their D is legit. @Arkansas of course will be a tough game since they'll probably shoot 30 free throws to our 10. Kentucky is always hard to beat. It's a tough little stretch.

If we are going to make some noise this year,we should beat Kentucky at home. We should realistically go 3-1 in that stretch. Arkansas on the road might be too much to ask.

Think I misspoke about the MSU game @Drake, my bad.

Sleeps all messed up due to sickness or I wouldn’t be posting this early.

Next 4, it wouldn’t surprise me to lose the road games to ranked teams. That might actually be the most probable. Not sure what the @MSU line will be, but I certainly wouldn’t lay any more than 1-2 points.

Here’s my feelings from bad to good:
0-4: melt…about everything!
1-3: we’re a bubble team and better get this thing turned around fast
2-2: a little disappointed, need to figure a few things out
3-1: very happy with the start, should compete for the league
4-0: UTenn…we coming and you can get it too!!

Need to go 3-1 to set pace for a championship.

If we want to win the SEC have to win almost every home game. Also this Alabama team should be finding a way to beat MSU level teams regardless of where they play.

@Arkansas would be an “acceptable” loss for a team competing for an SEC championship and a top seed in the tourney.

the massive number of turnovers

I love this team.

But if I just had to complain (as per tradition), the turnovers are starting to bother me.

Fortunately this seems fixable, because it will probably be our undoing at some point if not.

I have neither the time nor the ability to do this kind of deep dive research, but I think the turnover problem has to have something to do with our lineups or some kind of schematic issue. Regardless of opponent, we go on a massive turnover binge for like 15 minutes in most of our games and have no issues for the other 25. There has to be some kind of common theme that is being missed by the coaches or that they know about and are hoping can be worked through.

We are a turnover machine in the 1st half. Then actually do a good job of taking care of the ball in the 2nd.

The only disturbing part is about 3/4 of them are unforced turnovers

I agree, and think you're definitely on to something, at least.

Seem to recall against Gonzaga, we had like four turnovers in a row. And maybe three or four consecutively last night.

I recall fouling the worst FT shooters off the ball being a big trend for a while--maybe about 15-20 years ago, if I recall correctly.

However, there was an effort to curb it and refs started calling them intentional fouls.
