I think UCONN will likely be too much for St Mary's due to their lengthy defenders but they're better than some people credit them. They play great team defense and do have that freshman guard who can get hot and carry them enough on offense.

They beat SD St and Gonzaga at home with fairly poor offensive performances but just kept getting stops on the defensive end.

CBS just did a quick highlight reel from yesterday...they covered every team that won, showed clips of game, interview, and/or celebration...Bama had a Bediako dunk very early in the reel, and when it came to "covering Bama" it was Miller's block...that's it...2 highlights...while TN, ark, TX, SdSt, ucla, Houston, and Princeton got multiple shots...the blatant disregard is real and evident...and we are the overall #1 seed....it's quite sad

But they did manage to feature Houston’s close brush with elimination in their game with Auburn

Largely because anyone who watched that game knows if AU hadn’t adopted the Shaquille O’Neal approach to free throws the Cougars would have even eliminated too. It was a dogfight right up to the end.

Both of Bama’s games ended with the white boy walk on getting minutes so they just aren’t news. That’ll change after today. There will be far fewer games to cover and the pretenders will all be gone.

Second Round NCAA tourney schedule sucks. They need to put more games earlier, especially on Sunday

Oats with more 20 point tourney wins than the program had previously

1990 vs Arizona 77-55

2021 vs Maryland 96-77
2023 vs Tex A&MCC 96-75
2023 vs Maryland 73-51

Last game they startd a 6'7 guy and a 6'10 guy along with 3 small guards.

Yep. A 5'10, 6'2, and 6'4 guards. Their starters are also 4 seniors and a junior. Their leading scorer yesterday came off the bench and is 6-6 junior guard.

This will put a 6-4 guy on Miller, who is their leading scorer, Matt Bradley.

They whipped Furman, but that's what I expected them to do. But this is still a team we can beat.

Oats said they switch everything. That may make it more difficult to get off 3pt shots off screens but it presents some opportunities for dribble drives with the right matchups.

They're #4 in 3 point defense in KenPom, so don't expect us to shoot 30 3s at 40%+. Oats bout to earn that money.

Maybe that's more of a function that we didn't get Maryland in the past.

That's a tough assignment. Miller is 6'9. If we play JQ and Sears then Miller will probably be on Matt Bradley. Jaden Bradley could probably draw that defensive assignment if he's in the game. I'd like to see Burnett get some run. I don't think we are too worried about their guards getting into the paint with Charles Blockiako down there. Their guards are gonna have a hard time shooting over Miller.

It's also possible we play small and run Miller at the 4. We could try to open up the lane by forcing one of their bigs to stay with Miller. But I don't think we can play Jaden Bradley if we go with that strategy.

If Miller is good to go, I think we just stifle them with fresh defenders on their guards and let Miller carry the offense. We have better athletes and prolific scorers. And at the end of the day I just don't think they have an answer for David Diaz Herrero.

Xavier has 4 players that all have the same exact haircut and look like the exact same human being.

Yeah. I didn't like this schedule on Saturday, but I get it. But on Sunday, it's stupid as hell. Gonzaga won't finish until midnight on est.

Question: what result would it take to make Nate Oats the greatest Bama basketball coach of all time? A final four? NCAA title?

Getting FOG boosters to fund the new arena.

Kidding aside, a final four might do it. It's officially uncharted territory. But, Wimp is considered better than Gottfried, who took us farther than Wimp ever did. But winning an NC would definitely guarantee GOAT status.

2 SEC regular season titles...2 SECT titles... record number of wins in a season. I know the sample size is relatively small, but it's all about the NCAAT in basketball. Make a Final Four and I'd have no problem putting him in that category everything else considered.

If Nate makes the Final Four then he’s immediately GOATed.
