The Sequence That Gave Nate Oats Goosebumps and Embodied Blue Collar Basketball (SI)

Alabama had one of its best games of the season in the win over Mississippi State, but one play in the first half exemplified exactly how Oats wants his team to play.

C - Sherrill (6'10, 215)
F - Stevenson (6'11, 210)
G/F - Griffen (6'6, 190)
G - Wrightsell (6'3, 190)
G - Sears (6'0, 185)

That's an absurd 3-point shooting lineup. Imagine Nate has to be drooling over the spacing potential. That also gives us more latitude to bring Dioubate off the bench in that Draymond/Rodman role without making it too easy on the defense.

After watching the Ole Miss / Auburn game I really want us to find a way on Wednesday. It used to just be KD Johnson and Evan Cardwell that made me really dislike them even more than normal... But I have to say, I have grown to loathe Johnni Broome as well. He has something to say to opponents after every shot, rebound or defensive play he makes and if he isn't talking he is constantly making the "too short" gesture after every basket he gets in the post. He gets away with a lot of what seems to be obvious taunting, really want to see us make them upset

I hate the 'too short' gesture from everyone. So stupid. You scored, congrats.

And Broome doesn't bother me near as much as KD. Seems like he's been there since the 90's. At least Broome is a really solid player.

Not much downside to losing Wednesday, I mean it's a tough place to play for sure.

Ala leads series 100-67.
Ala has won 3 in a row.
Ala has won 1 in a row at Auburn and 2 of the last 3.
Ala is 6-4 in last 10.
Ala is 28-35 at Auburn.

Broome is certainly a solid player. He is surprisingly better at help defense than I thought he would be as well. All of that said, he irks me and it's developed since I have noticed he is constantly chirping this season. KD on the other hand is just a chronic goof, but he often times does enough dumb stuff that he offsets any positives he brings.
I agree, the downside is not very much on Wednesday, but the upside would be huge. I liked the way we played against State even when shots weren't falling. Jaylin Williams is the guy that scares me for Auburn the most. When he plays well, they become exceptionally tough to beat.

I don't expect Alabama to lose @Auburn but the reality is that is one of Alabama's toughest games remaining in the regular season. Winning would be huge. Losing only puts Alabama in a tie for first place.

Aub/Ala line Wednesday? Aub -2.5?

Don't know if this was mentioned during the game posts but Pringle was on the bench the other night and leading the cheer in the huddle before pre-game, a good sign I'd think.

Assuming we’d be a slight underdog at a neutral court, I bet the line is 3.5 to 4

Torvik has Auburn by 5.8

I'd guess it opens at Auburn -4.5 or -5.

A roster like this was a pipe dream just 5 years ago. It's wild how quickly Oats took us from a middling bubble program languishing in 15 years of average basketball across multiple coaching staffs to where we are now.

If Stevenson had come to Bama without reclassifying, Bama would have had three McDonald's All-Americans and Five-Star players.
