Not much time, but got to step up and get the ball out with an empty backfield.

He needs to end up being a beast just because Red Morgan is a great name for a safety.

I think we'll be OK with Pritchett at LT for USF and maybe Wisconsin but we're in real trouble if Proctor can't go vs UGA. They will feast on Pritchett unless Bama lines a TE up next to him on literally every snap to help him.
Formby played a pretty good game. Not perfect but pretty good.

From some of the various practice pics that were posted yesterday, it looked like VanDeMark was getting some 1st team reps at left guard. That would indicate to me that Booker was getting reps at LT

Proctor update from DeBoer when asked whether Proctor will be able to play on Sat:

“He’s working toward it,” DeBoer said. “We’ll have to see right toward the end of the week. If it were up to him, he’d probably be out there. But we’ve got to be smart, and that means in these days earlier in the week, we’ve got to be smart and careful. He’s doing really well. He’s pretty much living in the training room. He’s got strong aspirations to get on the field as fast as possible. I can’t say one way or the other where that would be as of right now with still three days left before we play.”

Anyone else interested to see how Wommack handles substitutions with Golesh's insanely up-tempo offense? Wommack was rotating SO many guys last week, but I don't think that's going to possible this week.
Luckily it looks like only a high of 84 on Sat, with dewpoints below 60. If that forecast holds, should be a really nice night for football.

I’m not convinced he has the lateral quickness to play the edge, but that sack he allowed was another example of Milroe retreating in the pocket against an edge speed rush rather than stepping up or running into the vacated gap.
Pritchett was definitely beat, but it didn’t have to be a sack.

Maybe, but I think old boy was manhandling Pritchett from what I remember. The play I saw you would need to be prime Vick to avoid that rush.

Agreed, he got his arse kicked on that snap.

Remember the mush rush discussion back when we played Manziel and other run threats? We would just tell our DE/Jack to plug the gaps and sit so they had to beat us with their arm.
The issue with getting wide on the corner is you lose gap contain unless there’s a LB or spy in the mix to backfill. It’s something UGA is going to look to exploit with our new 1 gap defensive scheme.
With that play there wasn’t a spy so had Milroe climbed the pocket he still could’ve thrown the ball or just planted and run into daylight.
Long story short if you edge rush a guy like Milroe without a spy you are asking to give up an explosive play. So while I agree Pritchett looked like a freshman out there, Milroe still isn’t where he needs to be with understanding protection relative to pressure. But if that light ever comes on he’s going to be a DCs worst nightmare.

I don't disagree with this. My only point (and maybre I'm misrembering) is that (one of) the plays I remember Pritchett getting beat was on a pull slide to the inside not and outside rush, which gave him a straight line to Milroe.
Milroe couldn't climb in that particular instance. Not disagreeing with the overall principle.
I think we are just talking about to different plays, cause Pritchett got beat one on one a few times.

If you’re gonna be slow you better be strong. I think the coaches can probably work with either strength or quickness, but I just didn’t see the improvement from Pritchett I was hoping for on either front.
Getting beat on a speed rush and a power move against WKU isn’t a good look.
I haven’t done a close rewatch so I don’t want to beat the kid up too much, I think I just had flashbacks to watching Proctor get beat all night last year against Texas and Milroe compounding it by not feeling the pressure.
I mean there isn’t any doubt the offense can be explosive based on what they showed Saturday.
But in order to be consistent we need to stay on schedule. To do that the OL needs to limit the big losses we took at times due to bad snaps, penalties and sacks, similar to what we saw last year.
We went for 334 on the ground which is outstanding, but if you take out the chunk plays we were pretty mediocre:
Jam Miller: 4/14 yards (39 yard play)
Haynes: 3/17 yards (85 yard play)
Milroe: 9/39 (40 yard play)
Plenty of time to gel and overall an outstanding start for the DeBoer era.

He was playing out of position and got tossed in the starting lineup after warmups.
Pritchett's issues are neither quickness or strength. Physically he is ready. But he needs work on his technique and he needs to get experience. He guesses sometimes on a pass rush instead of reading and reacting. I dont know how he did in run blocking bc i havent rewatched the whole game.
But im not gonna come down too hard on a guy who had the most difficult assignment of the game. If he looks terrible this week, then i will change my tune.
