Our metrics and overall record this year aren't as good as last. We have some bad OOC losses that we mostly avoided last year - UNA, UT Martin, UAB (2x). And on top of that the SEC as a whole wasn't quite as good this year as last.

Does anyone think this staff is the answer?
It was an improvement, but that’s not saying much really. Seems like we’ve plateaued under Bo. He got us to a semi competitive level, but that doesn’t cut it in the SEC.
It’s easy to say he’s improved the program and give him another year, but I think we can and should do better. Similar to the basketball situation a few years ago… we’re a better program than this. No excuses for Bama baseball to be a middle of the pack conference team and perennial bubble contender.
I obviously don’t know how Byrne views it, but if we can get somebody better, I don’t see why we shouldn’t. No disrespect to the staff. It’s a program expectation that hasn’t been met though. Find somebody that can do it.

Dammit. We had a 6-1 lead yesterday and just have choked ever since.
Shouldn’t have given away 2 games against State and shouldn’t have gotten swept by the worst team in the League

The program is on solid footing after the disaster of the Goff year (after crumbling late under Gaspard). Bo has done a good job building a foundation for a good program with roster construction through 3-4 solid years of recruiting.
The optimist would say that our best classes are turning into upperclassmen next year, Bo is a young head coach figuring it out and we lost a ton of close games that next year could flip.
The pessimist says player development is poor, Bo looks lost quite frequently in the biggest moments and that this team and program look like they've hit a ceiling.
I lean pessimist, but because there is a reasonable optimist argument I'm pretty sure he'll be back

Unless there’s a slam dunk, no-brainer hire out there, Bo ain’t going anywhere…yet.

Gotcha. I hate it if that’s the case. Regional baseball is as fun as any sporting event all year.

I agree he probably isn't, but I also think we will be having the same conversation next year. I have 0 faith in this staff. I wish we would start over now. 5 years is enough.

Yep - being in the tournament (much like basketball) makes it so much more fun.

Called third strike to end the season is fitting.

Definitely not any difference makers. Seems like it’s just a bunch of good ole boys going out and playing a little baseball. Whatever happens, happens.
FRICK THAT shite!!
Losing has to hurt, dammit! It’s got to be something that eats into your soul!

That’s fair. We were so far into the dumpster when Bo got here, it’s easy to forgot how big an improvement the current situation is… even if that’s still disappointing.
I just hate to think we can’t do better and haven’t seen enough (again, not as much as most ITT) that makes me think Bo can get them over the hump. It’s not the roster or level of play, because he’s not swinging a bat, but his in-game decision making is head scratching at best and inexcusable at worst.

Personally I'd be just fine moving on. I don't feel good about the development of guys and at Alabama that is a must to compete.
And the icing on the top is in game stuff, which is consistently baffling.

Man, LSU fans really love PFG shirts. I bet 80% of the male LSU fans here is wearing one.

looking to next year who will be our weekend starters assuming we get no one in the portal.

Bo did a good job pulling the program out of the gutter, but will we ever be more than a perennial bubble team under his leadership? I'm skeptical, because his in-game coaching/player development has been poor, and he hasn't surrounded himself with the right staff. If he can correct those problems he can be successful here, but I have my doubts. If we don't get our name called Monday, his seat should be very hot going into 2023. Maybe even if we do.

I think the Avery/Bohannon comparison is probably an apt one. Both pulled the program out of the gutter/gave us a much-needed talent infusion, but can't get us past "bubble" level.

If Kentucky loses we may still get in… of course they are looking Omaha bound at the moment

I’m not intelligent enough about baseball to go into any details, (you guys have a far far greater knowledge of the game than I do). I just really liked what I saw out of Bo from a recruiting standpoint. However, reading the comments. He seems to be lost when it comes to in game coaching. We’ve been waiting for him to get it together, and I’m not sure that it will happen

I know we all want to see our young men play more ball in regionals. With that said, if we want a new coach, missing the regionals helps that cause. Sucks.
