You forgot Dylan Lonergan as well. We have been spoiled at the QB spot for the last several years but one will step up

He can freaking sling it. I really like that kid.

Lonergan might be someone to watch as the season unfolds.

Odds are we’re going to find a capable starter among a 5-star and 3 4-star options.

So it is your contention that there isn't a single Jalen Hurts or even a Jake Coker in our QB room? You think they're all David Cornwell and Black Barnett?
There's being a pessimist and then there is being irrational. I'm afraid you are the latter.

For real. Under this guy’s logic we should hang up the season since some 4 and 5 star QBs from years ago were busts. Don’t consider the two 5 stars that have both been Heisman contenders or 4 star Macorckle Jones, who only lost out to an incredible Davonte Smith for Heisman while winning a national championship and the Unitas award.

The more fair take is that 3 of them are about to become another Cromwell, Barnett, or Bateman and one of them is about to become a Blake Sims, Jacob Coker, etc. There is too much talent for the quarterback to be bad. May not be good enough for national title but I would be surprised if the offense is a train wreck.

I'm having good feelings about this season. Not that my feelings mean anything, but I kind of think we are going to come out looking impressive against MTSU, and also against Texas. A lot of talent and untapped potentialon this team, and a young, hungry OC, with a grizzled, hard nosed vet DC, complete with Saban being doubted all off season. Idk I just have a feeling.

No. That isn't my contention. I am saying plainly that Milroe ain't it. Is Simpson? I don't know. I certainly hope so. The odds of winning a championship, any championship, with a green QB are long. They are the exceptions, not the rule. Especially when you know it's going to be UGA across the line come Dec in ATL. They'll have a green QB too, so I guess that'll be the equalizer. Now the question is, Has Kirby recruited and developed his QBs better than Saban? Guess we'll see.

Mac Jones had been in the system 2-3 years and was drafted in the 1st round of the NFL. Do you think Milroe is capable of that?
There is a difference between pessimistic and irrational.
Thinking Milroe is Mac Jones isn't either. That's blind, crimson-colored glasses stupidity.

By all means I can show you Mac’s games against Tennessee and Mississippi State following Tua’s injuries. Looked entirely pedestrian with Jeudy, Waddle, Smitty, Ruggs, Najee and Sark as the OC

I don't think Milroe is going to be Mac, but it's fan fiction to pretend that everyone felt good about Mac in 2019 when Tua got hurt. Because Mac had pretty consistently looked like a dude who was never gonna play a meaningful snap at QB and was just waiting around for a highest ranked kid to take his spot as backup before he transferred to Georgia Tech or South Florida.
Mac was forced into duty in the 2nd half against Mississippi State in 2018 and was awful. He had a nice stat line but was asked to do absolutely nothing hard against Arkansas in 2019 when he had to play (in part because they were horrid and we overwhelmed them, not to mention Sark beautifully calling the game for him). Going into the Auburn game I don't think anybody really thought Mac was a solid SEC QB (I didn't). The Auburn game showed me he could play, and the Michigan game confirmed it for me.
But before that - nothing about him said "this guy is a guy I want starting at Alabama". And that with 4 NFL WRs and a great OC.

Even then. Who would have guessed that Mac would completely shut down the QB competition with Bryce before it even started? After the fact, we have gotten stories of him being a maniac watching film, torching the secondary in practice, talking shite to Saban, and being a fiery leader under the goofball facade

I thought once COVID happened it was pretty clear he'd be the guy, but yea even then I didn't think "oh this Mac Jones guy is gonna be an All-American". I just thought he could be a solid QB for us in his senior year.

What? No, Kirby Smart has not recruited and developed QBs better than Saban lol

Absolutely not.
He finally won titles with a 27 year old man playing against teenagers.
Their 5-star QBs have all been flops.

No doubt Mac was probably overwhelmed, anxious and a little nervous being the starting qb to finish the season.
But it made all the difference in the world for him in 20. Mac, DeVonta and Najee all had heisman type numbers.
Mac played with so much confidence and poise. His attitude going into a game was like, we’re going to stomp your arse today and there’s nothing you can do about it and that’s usually what happened.

I can literally show you Mac Jones' ring. Milroe isn't getting one as a starting QB.
