If we had a clone things would have gone better. There just aren’t enough to go around.

Cignetti spoke with more purpose and intention in that 45 second clip than DeBoer has in two years.

He sounds so much like Saban. It’s depressing. No one could have seen this coming, but good grief it’s hard not to be a fan.

Just shows you that there are elite coaches at all levels. I think Vince Kehres fits that mold.

I agree. It’s almost as if he had a plan on what he was going to say, and executed that plan. Similar to how he coaches.

We needed a younger coach with this mentality. I know Lanning is 0-3 against Deboer, but he was just getting started at Oregon. He’s from the Saban tree though.

I like Lanning, he coaches with an edge. He is the smallest leaf on the “Saban Tree” though since he was at BAMA for only one year as a graduate assistant in 2015.
He does a great job though. People that talk about all the NIL $$$$ at Nike should be able to buy them championships have never been to Oregon. Nice place but it’s not the Southeast, Texas, or Southern California, which is where the players are.
DeBoer beat him with midget PAC 12 teams. Oregon has gone B1G since then and adjusted accordingly, which makes Lanning more impressive.

Lanning is a gigantic arrogant prick and I hope he stays at Nike U. until they suck! No thanks, hard pass. Cignetti may be a jerk, but he’s a likable jerk. Lanning is the guy who was born on 3rd base and thinks he hit a triple and tells everyone so.

No one liked Nick Saban when he was 39. To say Lanning was “born on third base” makes you look even more foolish. Look away homie.

I believe he was Byrne’s pick over DeBoer but he indicated he was not leaving Oregon.

Byrne is a cheap dude. He won’t spend NIL $$$$ on the line of scrimmage.
ETA: So Byrne probably went cheap on Lanning and overpaid DeBoer.
Our AD sucks along with SEC Commissioner. They are big buddies. Both named Greg.

"Every play's got a life and history of its own."
Jesus. That's a word for word quote of what we heard for years.
It is depressing. But what's most depressing is when you realize that people in their fifties don't change their personality. DeBoer will never have this mentality.

If Lanning is crazy enough to take the Bama job, that means Bama mortgaged it's future. The odds of us doing a back to back blockbuster hire is slim.
It wouldn't surprise me if our next hire comes from the Cignetti tree.

You people are acting like you’re queer for this dude. He ain’t beat Oregon yet and again, let’s see where he’s at in 2 years before you anoint him the savior of college football.
Pining for a Saban clone is going to be as destructive as pining for a Bryant clone was. I swear to God, our fan base wants a damn cult of personality, it’s like their self esteem and self image demand it.
