With the transfer portal and recruiting signing day, there is no longer a good time for a coach to quit/retire/fired.
Seriously, do you think CNS had always planned to retire in Jan 2024?
I don't. I think he had a few more years in the tank until he talked to certain players about this year. I can only speculate about those conversations, but something happened that made him pull trigger early.
I wish the truth would come out.

But, what did you think was going to be gained by yanking Milroe and throwing in Simpson who had basically back up practice time during preparations and asking him to play behind a turnstile of an offensive line?
What’s the worst that could’ve happened? He turns the ball over just like Milroe? Then we are right back to square one but at least we tried to do something different. What if he was just able to be serviceable and hit some basic throws? That would’ve been a huge upgrade. Ty’s also not a statue and in his few outings has shown that he can be just as mobile as Milroe in the backfield.
But we’ll never know because DeBoer refused to do anything else.

That right there sums up the whole season.
Shut down BAMA Football Rant because there is nothing else to discuss until next fall.

The truth is out. Miss Terry told everybody. She said she would host the mothers of recruits and she said most would ask her how their son would be taken care of as far as preparing them for life. She said after NIL the conversations turned to how much is my son going to get paid and that’s when she told Nick it was time to do something else! I think this is evident that the conversations Nick started having to have with recruits about how much they were going to get paid instead of the “Process” is why he said adios.

I believe you are correct, but I want to know about guaranteed playing time in NIL arrangements, etc... There's got to be more to this whole issue than simply NIL payments.

Hurts was a project too. He also had outstanding defenses.
Did he ever turn the ball over on 3 straight possessions in any game in his career?
Milroe's defense wasn't chopped liver this year.

You're missing the nuance of it all. A better decision maker at QB makes for a better offensive line too. Faster processing and better throws make their jobs a little easier because they don't have to try and hold back 5 guys who know Milroe needs 6+ seconds to make his choices, that is unless it's the choice to keep it and run. He does that one with swiftness.

Just look at what Mbakwe just pulled. He probably told DeBoer he would take RW with him. So he gets to play offense as well. Sad state of affairs. DeBoer needs to show the players he has a set and stop being the “nice guy”.

I definitely understand that. I’m just not convinced Ty is that person, especially coming off the bench down 16.
That said, I did see him roll nicely out of pressure early in the fall - maybe the WCU game. I just don’t know that he can do it regularly.

At the risk of getting banned I'll say it.
Milroe = DEI. Saban was guilty of this shite by taking the team on that BLM parade of shame. Politics are ingrained in every aspect of our culture including college football. It sickens most people to consider it, but it's true. I don't like it, but I am not going to ignore the facts.
Idk. Maybe it's a total coincidence that the best coaches in the game don't have diversity at the qb position. Kirby let Fields walk under accusations of racism at the university. Sark doesn't have ANY diversity at the position. He isn't a racist. He has a black wife but no black qb on his roster after all.
This shite matters whether you like it or not. And before you flame me, I'm not saying blacks can't or shouldn't play qb. Not at all. But it's crazy to me that there are several coaches that have ZERO diversity at the qb position which ensures they never have to deal with the politics at the position. Don't believe me? Look it up for yourself. What you'll see is an alarming lack of diversity at the qb position no matter what team you investigate. There are two minority HCs in the playoffs. Between them they have ZERO black qbs on their rosters. Is it intentional? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe it is a HUGE coincidence.

Georgia hasn’t had a black quarterback since DJ Shockley in the mid 2000’s. Hard to include Fields since he transferred after a year. Ole Miss is the same way. I remember that used to always be a knock on Alabama but other programs have the same problem. But I agree with you about Milroe. I’m just ready for this sad chapter to come to an end.

Coaches are in a no-win situation in this new world. People can say “make a stand and let them walk” and I will be right there with you cheering philosophically.
But I remain unconvinced that this fan base, which has demonstrated for decades that it has the mood swings of a 16-year-old girl on the rag, will be on board with making a stand and blowing the thing up and “getting people in there who are interested in wearing the Crimson jersey instead of making money” and restoring coaches’ proper authority if it means a string of 6-6 seasons until it’s all worked out. People will be bitching that DeBoer or Lanning or Saban out of retirement or a hologram of Coach Bryant or whoever the coach is isn’t “coaching up” the 1 and 2 stars to where we are dominating people and making their asses quit.
Flame away, but I think the ingrained culture of this program is going to mean a struggle for us in an environment where players are essentially equal partners to coaches.

Right. But I'm not even talking starting qbs. ND and PennSt don't even have a black qb on their roster. Neither does Sark. That's two minority coaches and one that's married to a minority. Is this a coincidence? Why aren't black qbs recruited to ND or PennSt or Texas? BAMA has had how many qbs from Texas that are black?
Hurts
Russell
Milroe
That's just in the last 10 years.

Lane does have some diversity at the position at least.

I said this yesterday and my thread got whacked. There is a connection if not correlation. The political movement has infected every aspect of life in 2024.
Posted on 1/1/25 at 2:27 pm to dalefla
I had a thread get whacked too because of all the pussy-hurt white knights on this board that can't discuss race without getting their panties in a twist.
Posted on 1/1/25 at 2:38 pm to Gideon Swashbuckler
Probably because racial bias and politics are stupid topics to include in a sports discussion.

I don't disagree, but they're a part of sports whether you like it or not.
You can ignore it if you like, but that doesn't change the facts.
From raising a black panther fist from the Olympic medal podium in 1968 to Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem. They've been a part of sports for a long time.

I don't care. Take it to the More Sports Board if you want to have that discussion. Every thread regarding the topic gets whacked here for a reason.

Uh not really. They’re a direct correlation. Watch how our players conduct themselves during warm ups now. It’s like people are afraid to address the situation. People are afraid of calling out Milroe because of his ethnicity. Straight facts.
