We don't have boosters who can cut 8 figure checks on a whim. You really think Larry Ellison is going to lose any sleep if Bryce Underwood is a bust and that $15 million he spent goes to waste? He's worth over $200 billion. That'd be like you or I buying a single lottery ticket.

Larry Ellison cares so little about it, he's just handed his 30-something, half-his-age UM alum wife a bunch of money to have fun with and she's using it to field a football team at her alma mater.

No question that greed has always been a problem, but you fail to understand, or at least recognize that greed is now even more out of control.

You have failed to understand the greed was always out of control

It is now a problem for you because it finally reached the players

When the ADs, coaches, university, etc were all getting rich off this stuff you're guys were cool with that and supported the stupidity that a scholarship was enough or the moronic "they're getting a free education!".

You can turn college football to be completely money driven, have everyone profit from it except the players then attempt to put your head in the sand and ignore that.

It's THAT reason that everything fell apart of government stepped in

So you've watched more NFL this season because you don't like players getting paid??

Hardly. I couldn't care less about players being paid, in and of itself. It's the no-rules, everything goes nature of the current situation in college.

I watch the NFL because there is a system of restrictions and guidelines in place. And because the product on the field is a helluva lot better than the college game. If you missed the 1st half of Saturday night's game, you missed some fantastically entertaining football.

Burn it down.
If you haven’t noticed a decline in the product, overall, over the past few years, you haven’t been paying attention. It will get a couple levels worse before it reaches a bottom.

I have this same mind set. I just wonder what younger fans are thinking.

A lot of them are probably similar to these players. The problem is, they aren't the ones writing the checks. Pay attention to what Byrne says and does, and the bottom line. The signs are all there......

It’s a shame that they forced those players to play football in exchange for scholarships and free education, college degrees, room, board, and other benefits all those years and didn’t give them the option to say no and go work at McDonald’s out of high school and pay their own tuition.

I’m with you, I don’t see how anyone could view a free education, and the things that come with it for a football player, as having little to no value. The bias is pretty obvious.

Including the opportunity to earn one of those multimillion dollar NFL contracts based upon their development while at the school.

Less than 2% of college football players make the NFL. Players making money in college isn't the problem. In a billion dollar industry where coaches are making millions, schools are making millions, and TV networks are making millions I have no problem with the players getting their share of the money. The problem is the unrestricted ability to transfer whenever the hell they want.

That is not the only problem. If CFB players are going to get paid it has to be regulated.
