We need to have some thick skin, because some of the changes, and especially some of the players leaving, will sting. But I am behind Coach like all of us need to be. I am curious in regards to the people he will hire to recruit in our region. That is one of my concerns, but I know this; I would like to see Coach do what he is doing and put who he feels are the right people in place instead of grabbing the first available people to place in those positions. We all need to take a few minutes away from the keyboard when something happens before posting.

I think it's valid to have discussions about his ability to recruit. I think that's a fair discussion for all coaches we hire.

I don't think "Oh, well he has never recruited here." even makes sense.

I agree that he will have more resources, at a larger school, etc. However, he has to build those relationships first and foremost. At this point, Saban sold himself more than the university does. He has a lot of work ahead of him. That's for sure. We've lost that advantage. We've lost a lot of advantages over the years. SEC has expanded. NIL levels a lot of teams. etc.

I'm excited for the upcoming season. I think it will reinvigorate the fanbase, TBH.

…I meant critiques as in, he’s not considered a great recruiter or defense not being his forte? This is based, of course, on actual information we know about him as a coach.

Fair enough. I have these questions/concerns too, but some of these folks act like a player hitting the portal is his fault. He literally just got here and hasn’t really done anything yet. So critiques of him as a Bama coach is somewhat premature

It will take him time to earn trust with the current roster. There are definitely some players that I would hate to lose.

Honestly, 30 days isn't a ton of time to figure out your next move IF you are leaving. Also, add in NIL and it gets complicated quick.

I would hate to lose Caleb Downs. That would be a big blow to lose T-Rob and Caleb Downs. I don't think that would necessarily be on DeBoer but we aren't in the room during those discussions, etc. So who knows.

Yeah, I’m with you there. Blaming him for not retaining TRob and players portal jumping in the past 24 hours is misplaced frustration and in no way should blame be put on him for that.

Are these people gonna hand wring for 8 months?
Yep, if we go 4-0 out of the gate they’ll be screaming the sky is falling because we have to play Georgia next, which will be even worse because they’ll have 2 weeks to be whiney bitches.

Even with the GOAT, we would have folks talk about his time management, not firing personnel, etc. ad nauseam.

It is what it is. We can't control it.

Or...we could be optimistic and wait to be concerned when concerning things actually happen. The hand wringing is pointless as we dont hire the coaches anyway(thank the Lord)

Talk about sunshine pumping…
There is 0 chance TRob, Bond or Downs would be leaving if Saban didn’t retire.

So let's blame it on DeBoer.

He’s first official day on the job has been a shite show. So either he chilled before starting his new job or he’s so fricking bland that even though he called TRob and Bond they both decided there was no way they were staying.
Either way I hope day doesn’t get worse. Unfortunately I think day 3 will be when we officially lose Downs.

It’s his job to get them to stay. None of them would’ve been gone if we hired a charismatic coach with ties to the South.

Then blame them for not listening to his pitch. He's been in town for 24 hours. What's their fricking hurry?

Christ on a cracker imagine if UF had applied this logic to Urban, or LSU to Saban because he was a Meechigan boy.

Come one man let it go. This turnover is NORMAL.

Yeah, I’m really sort of pissed at all these guys jumping into the portal within 48 hours of Saban retiring. I know, big blow to the program but didn’t even wait to see who was hired. You’ve got 30 days to make the decision, what’s the rush? Then the man hired who has a stellar resume simply asked players to give him a chance, they don’t know him and he doesn’t know them. Go through spring practice, see what he’s about and if you still wanna leave, no hard feelings. But to jump in the portal almost immediately, it’s that kind of shite that pushed Nick out the door. When you commit, you commit to the PROGRAM, not CNS, not CKD, but to the University of Alabama. So stick around and uphold your end of the agreement, at least until you know what’s what.

Lying that he had inside sources telling him that Miss Terry was dying of Alzheimer's the other day should have been the final straw.
