If you’re citing a stat to measure open field elusiveness on a set of backs averaging negative yards before contact, I don’t think you understand what the stat is measuring.

whats weird is, multiple scouting reports have Jackson as a good run defender who loves to hit. no idea wtf these people are looking at.

Sounds like the same kind of scouting info that convinced AU their Euro player last year was 6’-10”. Any educated Bama fan could tell you Jackson was virtually unplayable due to his fear of contact.

Jam regressed from 23 to 25. Not sure why. Maybe it was the injuries. The horrible run blocking didnt help.

2023 was a pretty bad rushing season from us to be honest. Think we had only 10 runs >15 yards or something

Then we switched the scheme when we flipped coaches and it seemed to worsen significantly

Kinda feel the Rams got a steal with Keenan in the late rounds. The NFL is starting to swing back to featuring running attacks on offense which plays to his strength.

I would say we couldn't really run the ball well in 2021 or 2022 either but we had some dogs at tailback with BRob in '21 and Gibbs in '22. They made some tough and/or big yards on their own effort sometimes.

We ran the ball fairly effectively in 2021. Brian Robinson finished with over 1300 yards on the ground and was our last 1,000-yard back to date.

Right, I'm saying that BRob is a big reason why it was fairly effective. Gibbs ability to pop one with a small crease helped 2022 statistics look good. However, both teams had the "get a tough yard" problem.

Lawson is one of the worst backers we’ve had in twenty years not named Trey Depriest

It's mind boggling the line can perform so poorly and people still think the issue was RB

OL like QB is a position where when the level of play drops below a certain level nothing is going to work offensively.

We were well below that level from a run blocking standpoint last year which given the raw pieces we had to work with is an indictment of the OL scheme and coaching development going back years unfortunately.

There’s a reason why CKD brought in new coaching and rebuilt the OL from the ground up via the portal.

So do I think Miller was an elite RB? Absolutely not, in part due to injuries.

Do I think he could’ve been better with an average to good run blocking OL? Absolutely.

I have done no research, but is Downs the first Saban transfer ever to go in the first round?
