The already-crowded Walk of Champions could potentially see some new additions, according to Alabama Director of Athletics Bill Battle.

Plans are in the works for statues of Heisman Trophy-winning running backs Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry to join the Crimson Tide's five championship-winning coaches in the shadows of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

"We're working on a project and a plan that we hope to complete soon, and we hope to take it to the Board and the President," Battle said in a statement released by Alabama Athletics. "But, at this time, this is in the early stages."

Ingram won the program's first Heisman in 2009 before the first national championship of Nick Saban's tenure. Henry won the coveted award this past season after becoming the conference's single-season leading rusher.

Where the Heisman winners will be placed and a timetable for the plan are unclear. Although nothing is official, though, one would assume just like the coaches and Walk of Champions, there will be room for future winners.

My thought is that Derrick's statue needs to be about half a foot taller than Mark's.

Why so against it?

I'd really have to see what it looks like to have a real opinion on it

Will Auburn fans claim we are copying them?
Any other schools have Heisman statues?

Because I don't want us to have statues for bullshite trophies.

If you start making statues for Heisman winners, why not for the Biletnikoff, Outland, Butkus, etc?

Our team captains already get their hand and footprints in concrete around Denny Chimes.

How many places on campus are we going to plaster football stuff? Walk of Champions, Denny Chimes, Champion's Plaza, Bryant Museum, etc.

I think I misquoted the article in the thread title. It looks like they will be at the Walk of Champions, not Champion's Plaza.

I'm not opposed to it. Would much rather have a goaline stand statue like our own Iwo Jima.

It's an over-hyped award given to one of the best RBs or QBs on a top 10 team. Completely worthless.

There are 100s of 16-18 year old high school students that want to go to a school where they can win that award. These are being built, at least IMO, as another recruiting tool.

Still a waste of however many thousands of dollars it will cost. Especially if they get the same sculptor that did the Saban statue.

I don't like it. I always thought we were a very team first program- built on defense, no retired numbers, etc. No disrespect to either Mark or Derrick. They were great players and have been great ambassadors for the University, but neither was even the best player on our team in the season they won.
