Evidently you haven’t been to a game in red stick on a Saturday night.

The 2020 defense is a bust a minute trash heap of embarrassing effort, overly complex schemes with poor coaching at the lbs and our good safeties (true freshmen and rd freshmen) are still too young for our 400 page playbook (reamer showed it to me once). Our pass (remove the p) defense is the 6th worst in the country. Leave the excuses at the door. That is Texas tech level.
Spot on. Golding is taking one of the most talented defenses in the country, and making them look like the Big 12. I don’t know how a coordinator could do any worse with the talent we have.

Dude, when will the excuses STOP? We’ve been making excuses for Golding for 3 seasons now. We recruit better than anyone. Meanwhile Clemson, OSU, and Georgia have a strong defense every year. We had a strong defense every year pre-Golding Explain that
I can’t explain it, but how many playoff national championships between those three teams? Clemson with 2, OSU with 1, and UGA with 0. Strong defenses don’t equate to championships. LSU was one of the best offensive teams in history and they won last year. Beat UGA and Clemson. Had they played OSU, they would have boat raced them.
I am not going to defend Golding because I think he is in over his head. I could care less what he can do with a whiteboard. I want him to make adjustments and get the play called in time. If he can’t do that, then he needs to go. I just don’t think you can point to those three teams and make a valid point.

Might want to take a look down the road at LSU. Bo is doing just as bad of a job with a relatively decent defense. How many receivers were wide open in the Missouri game? Stingley just got roped a dope on one of the throws.

I had mentioned this in another thread but LSU’s defense was not that good last year. They got better like most defenses will but until the end of the year they were average at best.

I think you make a fair point, but the defense needs to have SOME teeth to it. At this point, I’d be happy with a top 10 defense statistically, and given that we’re Alabama, I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.
Also, last year with LSU was an anomaly. They had the best OC in the country, the best QB in the country (1st pick in the draft), a 1st RB, and some first round receivers.
I don’t think you can point to just one team, and say defense doesn’t matter. Clemson beat us in 2018 in large part due to their defense shutting Locksley down

Yep 5 red zone trips, what 3 points?

LSU’s defense got healthy and better through the season. By the time they hit the post season they were undoubtedly playing like a top 10 defense. Of course, they actually had a proven DC who knew what the hell he was doing, so they had a chance to improve throughout the year. We don’t seem to have one of those.

Love Locks, but he wasn’t reinventing the wheel. You put Lane or Sark in the position, and we get more than 3 points.

We will see how "great" uga is after this game. They, like Alabama in 2018 have played no one. Tennessee was the best offense and theyre one of the worst in the league.

Locksley literally called an option run on 4th and long in the redzone.

The man was an incredibly poor offensive playcaller. If he didn't have the RPO slant working 30% of his offensive production was gone. You could've pulled a drunk kid out of Galletes at 2AM and had him stonewall our offense in the redzone. The only reason we ever gave him that job was to retain recruiting and it backfired royally.

Yeah that was when I was completely done with that game. Freaking terrible call likely many in the red zone.
