It’ll be interesting seeing him pick Bama games.

Love the fact we still get to see the old man all the time.

Just the thought of Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee people having to still see him puts a smile on my face.

Probably the first season in years that'll I'll be up promptly for Gameday, I think he's a wonderful addition.

You know the first time Nick says something even slightly complimentary about LSU the Swamptards will be crowing on the SECr, "See! We told you seaux! He never enjoyed Bama! This proves he always wanted to come back to LSU!"

I don't think he'll pick Bama games. You know how ESPN doesn't let Kirk pick games that he's calling? Well, based on Saban's continued access to the Bama program, I imagine they won't allow him to pick Bama games so as to not create any issues in Vegas.

Like, if Saban picked against Bama, but everyone else had Bama as a favorite, people would be like, "What does Saban know!? Is there an injury that hasn't been disclosed to the public!?"

It's probably easiest for everyone involved if he just gives a "key to the game" for Bama games, rather than picking them.

I see no evidence this is actually happening. This announcement solidifies that.

This is one thing that I just don't get. Herbstreit picking a team to win or lose that he is calling has zero bearing on the actual game.

I get trying to appear neutral, but come on.

They're probably guarding against the appearance of using inside information. The broadcast team does interviews with both staffs during the week. I'm sure some coaches give them stuff that's not to be used before the game - "we noticed something about their punt protection packages and we've got something prepared to exploit it" "both our starting CBs are more banged up than we have let on" - that type of thing.

Yup, this is what I was getting at. It might be more of an issue for Saban and Bama if Saban is having in-depth conversation with DeBoer, the staff, and players that go beyond the typical broadcast team hanging around practices and interviewing coaches/players the week of games.
