I’m working on something like that with KenPom going back to 2013 so far. Planning on making an interactive Tableau dashboard with the data.

If Memphis gets Kira and Watford we riot.

He doesnt have an attitude problem as far as talking back and disrespecting the coaches he just isnt a gym rat type of player that takes the game serious. If that affects other players they are just like him.

Judging by his improvement from his first to second year in terms of defense and rebounding, I'm not sure what you posted is true. It seemed to me like he definitely was working hard at improving his game.

This is a fair point. I am not a real insider or a fake insider, so I don't know anything about the validity of any of these rumors.

If you just go by actually watching games, Petty was one of the few guys that actually demonstrably improved some aspects of his game over the course of last year.

He clearly improved his ability to handle the ball and get to the basket.

Do any of you think that perhaps Being from the NBA world Avery was used to and comfortable with prima donna personalities and therefore had no qualms recruiting them? And then when on campus, nothing was done to temper their personalities?

Really hope we can keep Kira here. I would think that having to sit out a year if he transfers would be a deterrent. I guess he might have a good shot at getting a waiver though since Avery was canned.

I think if there was any issue at all with attitudes or whatever, it was only a bunch of dejected players who had no faith in their coach. It's no coincidence that winning teams with good coaches don't have any "attitude" problems, but it's common, or at least a common scapegoat, for teams with poor coaching.

Pretty excited to watch this press conference today.

Spent about an hour and a half reading articles and watching videos on YouTube last night. Oats is a pretty impressive guy imo. I’m optimistic that he can do a lot of the things we have been yearning for with this program.

I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I really like that Byrne isn’t all about the splash and sex appeal for lack of a better term. Instead he seems to be pretty driven by metrics and sustainability when making hires.

I think everyone is very pleased with the Bohannon hire at this point and feels good about the future of that program. Bohannon is 43 years old and would seem to be a candidate that could lead the program for two decades if he desires to and the results are there.

Oats is 44 years old, and why he may be tougher to keep in town that Bohannon would be if one of the blue bloods comes calling, he could potentially lead the program for two decades if he desires to and has the results.

And now I half jokingly feel like if Byrne is still here whenever Saban decides to retire, we won’t be getting a Dabo or a Jimbo type hire to replace Nick, but Bynre will go all ninja on us again and hire somebody seemingly random like an App State coach that everyone will initially laugh at even though Byrne will know it’s another brilliant hire.

That might be true, but its hard to believe Avery would have played someone that was a problem in the locker room. Petty seemed to get more playing time than just about anyone.

Absolutely. People always want to blame the players, but if they were being lazy with bad attitudes it's only because Avery let them get away with it. Well coached teams don't have those issues because good coaches don't put up with that shite and their players know it.

I don't even think that was it though. I saw a team that wanted to win but just didn't know how. They weren't lazy, they were just always played confused because Avery had no idea what the frick he was doing and the players all knew it.

We are lucky that he isn’t yet eligible for the NBA draft, because somebody once posted that he is basically pre injury prime Derrick Rose.

Yep - gonna have his work cut out for him.

The good news is he'd have to sit at any of these places, and if his goal is a quick route to the NBA then having a big year next year is a huge carrot that only we can provide.

Yea, we said this multiple times. A lot of time confusion and playing a step slow is confused with laziness.

I don't want to go all overboard and hype the guy up too much, because it's definitely not a given that he'll do well at Bama. But, I will say that he has the kind of mind and work ethic that succeeds at a high level. There are people that love to win, and there are people that hate to lose. The person that hates to lose will be more successful.

Oats is analytical, precise, knows what he's trying to accomplish, knows how to teach it, has a strong personality, and is confident. I'm not saying he's going to be Coach K. But, he's the kind of guy that has the POTENTIAL to be a really, really good coach.

Uses word "swooft"

Definitely qualified to question the hire.
