Does he even have a reason for why he thinks Mike Davis would be a good hire?

Honestly, I would be ecstatic if we hired Steve Forbes. He's been my top guy since before we even fired Avery. There's always a risk when you roll the dice on mid-major coaches, but I really think he'll succeed wherever he goes.

With that being said, I didn't know Thad Matta would be in play(if the rumors are true). You rarely get a chance to hire someone with such an established record like his. At least if you're not a traditional basketball blue-blood. So if you can get him, you do it. He's too good to pass up.

But if the fallback option is Forbes, then I think we're in good hands either way. I love the fact that he's a junior college savant. I've often salivated over having someone that could fill a roster with experienced grad transfers & juco guys. There's usually only a couple of high caliber recruits in the state of Alabama each year, so hitting the transfer market would pay huge dividends for us.

And I love the way he describes his own recruiting philosophies - “Recruit Burger King All-Americans to kick McDonald’s All-American butt.”
