Damn, that was close. Vandy finally picking up the pace. What's up with slow starts?
Posted on 12/31/25 at 2:02 pm to UASports23
Vandy won't guard the sticks on 3rd down and can't stop this xfl rb for Iowa

You're not gleaning anything from bowl season sadly. Several variables skew anything you could derive from them.
Are the teams comparable in their own conference standings?
How healthy are the two teams?
Are there any opt outs? Who?
Are these P4 matchups?
Any intra-season or post-season coaching changes?
Then you have to wonder do these teams even care about the game.
People are knocking on the SEC this bowl season and from what I can tell, most of the bowls are pitched (opponent is higher in its own conference standings than the SEC team), and the SEC team has considerable opt outs

You can’t take too much from it, but I will say this: the Big 10 teams are far more physical than the SEC teams.

SEC getting exposed
Yeah...
The guy saying Indiana is a 4 loss team in the SEC probably will avoid these scores we've seen or try to make excuses.
SEC teams are just getting beaten. Period.
Really hope we had a great week of focused and motivated practice

I saw an article today where Cignetti said they had a bad week of practice because of the crazy travel schedule.

Hopefully it's actually due to his very old team reading the rat poison and buying into the fact they will walk right over us.
These recent results will probably help their arrogance

Cry me a river. Other teams have trouble with travel. Deal with it.

They are pretty new to this. I hope they buy in to their own rat poison.

Yep we need every advantage. I just need KDB and co to be hammering the narrative we have no business in this game with Indiana and how the SEC isn't good anymore.

If we play a no turnover game and still lose. Just is what it is. They could be that good but I think we can win.

It's been really strange to me. I get depth has been cut in half.but feels like the big 10 and their upper tier teams especially have not dealt with much of the same problems? I still don't know why they have seemed to handle the new era so much better.
It’s no coincidence that the SEC contains some of the poorest states in the nation and is getting outperformed by the B1G that is much more robust economically. NIL spelled the end of dominance by the SEC. If pay for play is legal and kids go to the highest bidder we are doing well to maintain the status quo. They have many more millionaires and billionaires in the Midwest and West coast than the Southeast. It’s why Texas and A&M are moving to the forefront of the league. Money is not a problem for them. We always said money would kill college football and we were more prescient than we realized.

Yeah definitely can.
I have highlighted focus and motivation for practice because honestly once the game starts it's no different than once a track race starts... all you perform is how you prepared.
All the anger in the world ain't gonna help you if you didn't prep well.
ND came with all that against us and we quietly watched them yell, get angrier, etc.. then stomped a golden hole in them because we prepared with enough focus and intensity to reproduce what we practiced on gameday.
As you said Boz we need everyone focused, keyed into the gameplan and their roles in it. Not only no turnovers but no wildman crap doing your own thing. We can miss a throw, miss a block, drop a pass but don't let it be consistent and keep plugging on right after.
This game is beginning to be even more than just Alabama and sadly the rest of our conference hates us so much due to the envy from Saban they can't see it... at this point we NEED to win for the conference just as much for Alabama.

Idk man the sec in general besides UGA hasn't been much in the last 3-4 years.
UGA is still the class of the SEC but they are also a shell of their former self. They aren't dominating teams anymore. They struggled against Auburn and Florida and lost to us when we were at full strength. Last season they lost to us, came within a pussy pube of losing to Kentucky and was embarrassed by Notre Dame. They absolutely should have lost to Georgia Tech as well and would have if not for some blatantly questionable officiating on two key plays that kept them in the game to tie it up. Right now, they're really more reputation than reality.
I honestly think Vandy would have got them at least once with Pavia.

I honestly don't give a shite about the conference. There's literally no team in the country I'd root for Tennessee to beat. I'm glad they lost. As long as Bama wins the rest of the conference can get their asses beat.

Well of course considering how angry your posting style has been lol.
In the end of the conference loses prestige it impacts our ability to play in these playoffs. Look at it like this, without that prestige they put ND in and leave us out and we don't even get the chance to avenge OU.
Also regarding rocky top, of course I love them losing every game but I'm not hoping Texas, Vandy and others lose to B1G teams because outside of small-man syndrome, insecurity or a rivalry there isn't a positive from those outcomes.

They certainly are at the tops of the NIL budget lists

I’ve seen this take, but where is the evidence the B1G is recruiting better?
247’s team talent rankings top 10 has 5 SEC teams, 3 B1G, 1 ACC, and Notre Dame.
The top 25 has 14 SEC teams vs 6 B1G teams.
Indiana has 0 five stars and only 7 four stars on the roster.

To be honest I am not sure anyone will measure the SEC that counts(committee) based on how our 7-10 ranked teams do outside of the playoffs in bowls that have no real value.
