It's sounds like Hurts is going to play this year though. I'm interested in how they are going to bring him along.

I think everyone has been had here. I think Hurts has been inflated on purpose. I think it is Barnetts to lose, always has been.

Could it be that Bateman has already won the job and Barnett is the backup? Like in 2009 where Star Jackson was technically the backup while AJ was the "true" backup. So in this case Saban wants to redshirt Hurts but will play him if he absolutely has too.
Or maybe he just feels Hurts doesn't know the offense well enough yet and race is truly down to Bateman and BB.

It would be different If I hadn't actually seen it, talked with talent scouts and agreed with virtually everyone (who was there) that Hurts was better. I don't get it but hey support the process.

I wouldn't group Barnett in the same category as Star Jackson. He is a helluva petter than that.

Well I'm probably a little different than most in that I don't watch the scrimmages or really pay attention to the news that is coming out of them. I trust the coaching staff to choose who is the best player and who is going to put our team in the best position to win games. If Blake had 8 turnovers in 2 scrimmages fine. If Bateman goes out in the first three games and has a bunch turnovers and Blake has few/none, I'd kind of like to know that. I don't want to just move forward with Bateman no questions asked just because he performs better in scrimmages/practice.

Interesting stuff.
Ross Piersbacher is back to RG and Bozeman at C.
Hale Hentges beats out Brandon Green and will play opposite of Howard. Also, Miller Forristall as expected at H-Back.
Terrell Hall is going to be a beast.
I'm not a big fan of Ardarius being on KR's.

Maybe it's the unspoken. Hurts is the starter and now he's trying to get the other two in position to back him up. Just a thought. And sorry for the lisping, dentures are loose today.

I'm not saying he's Star Jackson level. I'm saying Hurts might be better than BB but maybe Saban wants to redshirt him.
Again Hurts might be the most talented but Saban, like most coaches, probably doesn't feel that a true frosh QB is ready.
