I’m not sure where you’re getting the notion we had wide open guys deep often
We didn’t have many options. We shy’ed away from testing them deep often.
We kept a tally throughout the game, 60% of the first half playcalls were screens or runs. We had a few other subsets of getting Ty out of the pocket to a drag, whether it was a quick roll out or a play action.
If you want deep throws, you’ve got to actually have options. We didn’t do anything to force the run game open from a playcalling perspective but kept trying to force it

Did you miss all the replays? The guy had guys open and he had more time than Mendoza just unlike Mendoza he has a panic attack anytime the ball is snapped and starts quick footing more focused on if pressure will get to him which is why he is so late making reads and throws.
We had his back up come in cold and immediately our offense moved the ball, down field passes were made, etc.

Yep we're at that time after the game where the actual performance is forgotten and the Ty truthers come in full defense as it's everyone else fault.
Hey why don't you guys beg for him to come back???
He just needs another year like Milroe, right??

We have an absolute dog coming in at RB and if he doesnt start the staff is clueless. None if the RBs or OL play with fire on this team.
If we need a full time coach to make sure this Crowell kid learns the playbook, we need to do it. Most talented HS runner ive seen Bama recruit in years. If he cant pass block...then send im in routes and throw it to him

Ty wasnt the problem, never was. The load they put on him and the embarrassing OL play was the problem.

He might not have been the problem, but he certainly was a problem.

Yeah he played like a first year starting QB and we put 97% of the offense on his shoulders. We did the same thing with Milroe...because the running game is non-existant

You typically expect first-year starters to get better as they gain experience. He regressed in just about every way imaginable.

Yeah and youd expect Alabama to be able to run for more than 10 yards a game. Yall act the difference in winning all the games that were lost was just playing a different QB.

Please watch the all-22 for some of these games. Yes, our inability to run the ball puts more pressure on our QB, but our QB routinely makes the wrong reads on plays. So even when Grubb calls a good play and our WRs/TEs/RBs get open, our QB doesn't do his job.
By this point in the season, even a first-year starter at QB should be making correct reads.

He knew the OL wasn’t going to hold up, so he rushed his reads instead of waiting a sec for it to develop

quote:There is no explaining Grubb. Craziest OC I've ever seen. Completely out of touch with winning football. The hiring and retaining of Grubb is the main reason I know Deboer won't make it in Tuscaloosa.
What I want to see most is Grubb on a plane out of T-Town along with the OL Coach

Early in the season he was much better at navigating and climbing the pocket when necessary. Towards the end of the season, he'd just bail completely and it killed plays.

We need a new OC. Grubbs play calling is mind blowing. When was the last time we threw a 50/50 deep ball just trying to give Horton or anyone a chance? Our three plays after halftime was abysmal. Thats the best we got? But….beyond all of that… I think a lot of our players quit early, and Herbstreit even said it at halftime. He said no effort, no energy, etc..
I don’t know if they were just focusing on transferring or the NFL, but we just looked like we were going through the motions.

The people on youtube that I watch that religiously break down film rave about Ty Simpson
