Seems like it’s trending out, but nothing that happened yesterday has changed my mind that SMU should be in over Bama. They have beaten nobody, and will promptly get their arse beat in the 1st round. Whereas Bama would probably make a run to at least the semi-finals.
Bama is the “more deserving” team due to quality wins and SOS, and the “better” team that everyone knows would perform better in the playoffs.
Literally the only reason the committee would select SMU is because they gave in to pressure and thought it the path of least resistance due to idiotic public opinion.

We're in and they have set the precedent for us to be in.
Clemson lost closely to South Carolina. Miami with a terrible schedule lost closely to Syracuse. SMU with a terrible schedule lost closely to Clemson.
There is literally no justification that Miami and Clemson dropped at least 5 spots and they would only drop SMU for 2.
Also taking into consideration BYU beat SMU at SMU and they have the same win-loss record but BYU has a stronger SOS.
The committee has one option.

Slight chance that we make it in but most probably out

The biggest irony about this is if that were us instead of Clemson everyone would say we lost our Playoff play-in by losing to the worst team in the playoff selection.
Instead they are all advocating for a team who hasn't beaten a top 30 team all year with it's best victories being an overtime win over Duke and a 7 point win over Louisville

You're assuming they use logic. The game last night gave them an easy out. They're going to take it. We out.

Out, got to beat the teams you should beat. Do that and there is no conversation to be had.

Think about this...should smoo (not ranked wins with terrible schedule) be in over us, the big 10 will have 4 teams. Ducks, losers to Michigan, Penn St, and Indiana. Ohio St has 2 ranked wins, over Penn St and Indiana. Both of whom have zero ranked wins. Not one. Yet, the SEC will have 3, uga, tx (actually no ranked wins), and 10rc. And sitting at home is Bama, with basically the best win of anyone over uga, 2 other ranked wins, a demolition of lsu, and pretty tough schedule.
Make it make sense.
Make it make sense.

quote:
In... top 25 record is 3-1 to 0-2. that will be the reason right there
We'll see how important that UGA win is and if it will cancel out either the Vandy or OU loss.

We are in, SMU has no one to blame but Craig James and the Pony Express. Had he not cost them a Natty they would have never gotten the death penalty. This in turn would have kept them in the public consciousness which would have made them a draw that could be competitive with blue bloods in TV viewership and make them competitive for a spot. Not to mention CJ allegedly killed five hookers in a hotel room. Bama is in, has always been in. COYG.
