Whats funny is that Ohio State spends around 25 mil on the roster and essentially had the same season as us hahaha. Conference championship appearance and made the playoffs. At least we did have one playoff win.

I do not see that many teams to be honest that will be able to sustain. The ACC and B12 have yet to benefit from NIL. Yes, I know TTU did this year but not as a conference overall. Both conferences for as long as I can remember were 2(maybe 3) at the top and the rest of the league not really good. That has not changed with NIL. The B12 is probably worse now that their big anchor schools have all left.

Another thing to watch is going to be the NFL. They have kept their hands out of it because players declaring early and whatever has only benefited them but that will change. Second round and later will see less quality talent coming out when those players can make more money by staying in college. Players also now have agents as a freshman and well prepared for contracts not to mention they will demand more coming out.

One more thing my guess the next change for CFB since the NCAA has no power is players entering the draft will get a longer window to withdraw and it will not be long before a player that declares for the draft goes 3rd or later after expecting to go no later than the second and sues the NCAA for his eligibility back to return to school after the draft.

It’s real simple guys. Look who is prospering in the portal era. Teams that have money, but don’t necessarily have a history in college football. Texas Tech certainly wouldn’t qualify as a blue blood. Neither would Indiana, Ole Miss, or SMU last year. The coaches who have figured it out, are building their team through the portal with diamonds in the rough, older, more experienced players, with the super talented overpriced, five star being fools gold.

I think that has more to do with the fact that there is now a 12 team playoff. TT, and OM and schools like them have had top 12 teams in the past. Indiana is exceptional, but that has more to do with the fact that they have an exceptional coach. Same with OM really.

Also, making the playoff 1 time isn't prosperity to me.

Good for Proctor but never felt like he reached his potential in college. Very athletic but seemed to lack something to make a great OL. Maybe a Guard in the NFL?

I wish all you people that said things like this would pack your bags and find another team. You arent personally entitled to your favorite football team playing up to whatever standards you have set.

What about the 10s of thousands I paid the school for my degree? Does that count? Am I personally entitled to be critical or hope they play up to a certain standard then? Or is it just if or when I give to NIL… Just curious…

Has to be the first Alabama starter to never go through Spring practice

The 10s of thousands were for an education/degree.

People pay more than that to attend schools that don’t have a football team.

Many here paid, one way or another for a degree, or paid for their kids, grandkids to get one.

So, no, it does not count. You paid for a service and received one.

Look,.this, all stinks to high heaven.

If you are a school that have billionaires cutting checks, then a kid staying only one yr after getting a big check is no big deal.

But many schools have millionaires that get highly upset(rightfully so)when they cut a big check and that kid leaves after a year. Hard for an Alabama to ask that same millionaire to cut another check for another kid.

Yeah, I already said that. My question was clear: Does being an alum give me the right to criticize, or is it only if I donate NIL money?

EDIT. Bamadoc says no… oh well.

For the record, I’ve donated—more than some, less than others.

But I’m done. I have my degree. Back in the day, players shared our pride in the school. Now it’s just a business relationship for them. So my “business relationship” with the university is over. No player can give me anything worth investing in, certainly not a degree— so I’m out—no more donations, no more wondering about my return on investment. Feels good actually…

Anyone can criticize anything. Roll Tide Willie criticizes things and he’s a retarded drunk with a TikTok. What good does it do?

So to answer your question, yes you can criticize and you’ll burn calories for no reason. Donating to NiL helps, and I do, but we did less with more this year so I don’t begrudge anyone in this exact moment for feeling like that’s a bad investment coming off a Rose Bowl arse whipping.

Oh boy:

quote:

Cam Coleman

We’ll start with Coleman. He has visited Texas and Texas A&M thus far. He was scheduled to see Texas Tech on Tuesday but is now expected to visit Wednesday. Given that he’s from Alabama, some are speculating he could see the Crimson Tide today, though I haven’t seen that confirmed.

What I do know is there is growing confidence within his home state that he’s going to play for Auburn’s No. 1 rival. His former offensive coordinator at Auburn, Derek Nix, has already transitioned to Alabama’s wide receivers coach. That certainly helps Alabama.

If the chatter about money not being the deciding factor is true, then Texas Tech may already be on the outside looking in. I still believe money is a very important factor—just maybe not the deciding one, at least between schools viewed as otherwise equal. I’d be surprised if Tech won out, but I wouldn’t be shocked.

Both Texas and Texas A&M appear confident. I can’t fully speak for the A&M side, but I’ve received a couple of notes related to the Aggies—one of which aligns with common sense: they have an aggressive offer in place. Despite the recent Alabama noise, there remains optimism on the Texas side. I believe Texas will be firmly within the range of acceptable offers.

I’ve heard of no firm timeline for a decision. No school holds enough leverage to force the issue. Coleman will decide when he’s ready.

Happy that we're getting a starting caliber LB...need that...

As for Coleman, I'll believe it when I see him in practice.
