Praise be to our great and powerful Dark Lord Saban, may his reign of terror forever traumatize our enemies, but starting around 2018-2019 his recruiting classes became more and more loaded with headcases and "character concerns" poster boys like this dipshit. To the point that I think by around 2022 that element had established itself as a genuine problem in the locker room. Say what you will about this team, but they have at least cut out a lot of the stupid, selfish football we have seen the last few years.
Couldn’t have said it better myself

I think Auburn, UF, North Texas, and PSU are losing 3/4 of their team. Florida might struggle to field a team next year.
With that said there should be some upgrades available at OL and DL. I don’t know if there’s any interest but I think we need a starter at least at OL.

Have to wonder if “elite” talent like this or the Alfani guy were at the top of the white board or fall back guys because tier one went elsewhere.

I would love to see us go after the Cook kid from Jax State. He's an immediate answer and gives AK & Crowell more time to develop in pass pro and assignments.

Him and the North Texas RB should be price checked imo.

Stop me if you've heard this before. Auburn feels like they will get him

They have plenty of money to spend considering they've lost like half their roster to the portal.

Alfano was the #1 overall recruit in the nation out of high school. He wasn't anyone's fall back option. Nobody knew he'd turn out to be a massive headcase.

HOT TAKE…..I think Okie State may have made the best coaching hire during this cycle.

People underrate that many serious mental health conditions emerge between 18-22 years old. I believe Alfano may have been one of those situations from scuttlebutt I’d seen on the web and heard around town.

You start with the parents and then move on to more reliable people.

Anybody here remember Brooks Daniels?
His brother played in the NBA but went to Auburn. Brooks was our leading tackler but then never returned to the team. Sad story.

Is the deadline for the CFL draft coming up or is this just to give him time to prep?

I agree.
I would’ve hired him, grabbed an A tier DC for huge money and accepted the risk because their offense was like watching a symphony this year. In some ways it was an improved take on the Heupel veer and shoot: they would spread you vertically and horizontally so they could run power. With the right players it could absolutely work in the SEC.

And even the teams who thought he could have issues were willing to take a shot because of the upside.
What I don’t think we had down the stretch with the late stage Saban teams was a Bobby Williams type behind the scenes guys keeping things in order with the roster and Saban was spread too thin with bad assistant hires (OC, OL, etc) to also maintain the culture.

I was in the honors dorm my freshman year at UA. Nothing but national merit finalists and presidential scholarship holders in my dorm. Had two people who were committed before the end of our first semester. College is a stressful life adjustment. More so for an athlete I imagine. It can be the push that manifests something inside them they aren’t ready to handle.
