The Keeley loss is tough because we essentially paid the price of filling out his frame to what it needed to be for an NFL future and giving him the time to adjust to playing at that size. Now someone else is going to get an DE ready to eat.
It's a sad state of affairs in college football. It really drives home that schools should not really invest in project players or pay the costs necessary to rebuild a player from something good enough for college to good enough for the pros. Treat the players as something disposable and squeeze what you can out of them while they're here. Don't invest in their future because that future is apt to be on the other sideline.

I hope we lose all of the last Saban recruits. Dudes were all busts, and he knew it, especially once they were demanding money. DeBoer will have no excuse for squinting at the scoreboard next season if it’s all of his guys.

Now that coach can truly empty the roster and rebuild I’ll bet we see a decent exodus because they will simply have a chat with every single player about the future.
Huge recruiting class coming in, need to mercenary OL and DL, new coach for each. OC we will see. QB battle, TE battle, Mercenary ILB, Secondary should be good.
If we simply go off of the spots to fill with championship level players it’s probably this
3 OL
1 TE maybe 2
2-3 DL
2 ILB
QB (obviously we have good players here it’s just a new spot to fill)

Keon Keeley leaving sucks.

Oh yeah we are on the same page. I think I needed to type out exactly what we needed so I could see it. Getting like SoG with spreadsheets.

Apparently Formby had a big offer by another SEC team and turned it down last year.

Boz,
What are your thoughts on S&C ? I feel like a change is needed there.

We need OL that understands pad level/leverage, how to use their hands to affect the linemen's balance, and good footwork. If we're going to be a zone run team then we need to have the right kind of linemen for it.
Our TEs need to be MUCH better at sealing the edge on outside zone, wham and pull blocks, and pinning people. You can't be a team trying to get the edge and have bad run blockers at TE.
We need a 0/1-tech DT and 4/5-tech DE. What we'd love is someone like Q Williams at DT and someone like Jon Allen at DE. I think the days of DLs significantly over 300lbs is nearing its end in Tuscaloosa.
We really need somebody who can fill that role Jefferson and Campbell have filled at linebacker. Do we have that on roster? I feel like we can replace the MLB spot with what is on roster.
I think our staff should follow Kiffin's lead with Chambliss. Go find an FCS/D2 player who had a lot of success at that level and ask them if they'll come in for an open competition. Mack and Russell are clearly the favorites to start next year but someone who has a track record of winning around to push them and be the emergency plan is sound imo.

Hate losing Keeley because of his speed off the edge.
It’s crazy that it’s become as hard or harder keeping top talent as it is recruiting them initially.

Yeah I agree. I didn’t list him because it’s not a position coach but I wouldn’t be upset if we tried something new there.

No but we have two transfers we are trying to get who could be. Both are players.

Not upset about any of those guys, Keeley included. Maybe he wants to be paid as a starting level DE but his production doesn’t match.

I like the #8 kid. I also think Russaw is more of an inside guy
Edit: Justin Hill #8
Had to look it up

Keon Keeley leaving sucks.
The love of money is the root of all evil.
Just chasing whoever will pay a nickel more...no loyalty...no school pride.
The game just flat out sucks now. Our judicial system has destroyed it.

When Jefferson and Lawson are your standards then you might need to upgrade the standard.
Bama had the same number of players (4) on the All-SEC teams as Auburn.
2 on the 1st team.
All that talent is pure BS.

He brought a hell of alot more to the table than Jordan Renaud. This whole roster was mismanaged and here's the results.
