Maybe Oregon but I honestly haven’t seen them play a down of football this year

I watched them struggle and eke out a win in Madison over Wisconsin 16-13.

It's time to surrender the "high ceiling" myth regarding Jalen Milroe. His floor is low, his ceiling is low.

This board always forgets his shite performances which are almost every week. Right now they’ve glossed over the three fumbles against Auburn.
Do that against a quality opponent equals loss.

If Texas comes out and takes care of Georgia on Saturday then I move closer to forgiving their earlier game and feeling pretty good about them as the most consistent option.

Similar with Oregon - if they come out and just take care of business vs Penn State, they fall in that group.

Other than that, a whole bunch of teams with wild variations of performance. I have a hard time saying "I can see that team winning 4 straight against Top 15 teams" about basically everyone, and yet someone is going to do it.

There is one situation where his ceiling is high - games coming off a bye week with this staff.

Good news - the first game will be just that

Bad news - none of the rest will

The only hope with Milroe for a 4 game stretch like this is that we get a great bye week fueled game (or even half) against ND/PSU and get a somewhat functional non self destructing version over the next 3 where he makes some great plays and somewhat minimizes the bad ones. I don't find that very likely, but it's the only somewhat realistic path.

Jalen Milroe has been hired to do a job and he's paid handsomely for it, millions in fact. He's not under contract, and someone as bad at their job as Milroe should at least be demoted if not outright fired.

He's a professional football player delivering a substandard product. Treat him as such.

I did think Milroe’s passing accuracy was improved against Auburn. He had some really nice passes that were dropped.

I’m not convinced we have someone better that could take over at this point in the season but I admittedly don’t know much about football.

I think our “A” game is better than anyone else’s “A” game. But I have zero faith we will see it.

Teams that could win the national title in order:

1. Texas
2. Oregon
3. UGA
4. Ohio State
5. Tennessee
6. Alabama

So half the field is credible. After Alabama, I think the drop off is steep. That is not to say Alabama couldn't lose to any of those "bottom" six - they certainly could given the inconsistency we've observed - however Alabama could beat any of the five teams above them too.

Bama (homer pick)
can we beat any of the other teams? Absolutely. Can we string together 3 great games in a row with these knuckleheads? Seems unlikely

This is like a new 4 game season. Time for redemption by players and coaches .The stupid penalties and turnovers have got to stop. Hopefully, the OL has time to get over the nagging injuries. Milroe has to know that he has the opportunity to increase his draft stock if he plays well. If they play like they did against Ga, Mizzou, and LSU, they have a good chance to win it. I think one of the SEC teams will come out on top.

I honestly have faith in all of those things except for the QB one. I just don't think he is capable of playing 3 straight weeks at the level we need against the types of defenses we will face to win 3 straight games (notice I said 3 because I fully believe that off the bye week he could be brilliant in Round 1).

I would love to be proven wrong.

They're 4-1 against the CFP Top 25 and the one loss was a close game on the road.

The fact they're going to play a quality team on the road in game 1 is the biggest concern for me. I think they'll play well in the neutral site games if they make it to that point.

All I hope is that anybody other than Georgia or Tennessee wins it.

I have serious doubts Tejas beats uga this weekend.
Oregon has won all their games, but would anyone be surprised if they lost to PennSt? I wouldn't. Oregon's schedule was like Tejas's except they won their uga game (OhioSt but they did have to cheat to do it.)
Uga has the best coach (supposedly) and the most talented (except qb, rb, secondary, and especially wr).
OhioSt managed 10 points at home to a team Tejas beat like a gong.
Tenner is the weakest team on this list.
BAMA is jekyll and hyde, but does have the most dynamic player on the list.

My guess is that the Top 5 on this list want to play #6 the least.

I don't, but I will be curious if we are in a tight game where Jalen is displaying clear signs of Tennessee/Oklahoma if he has more urgency to give something else a try or not, as opposed to the regular season.

Definitely. I don't think Mack would do it cause he wants to make sure the team chemistry doesn't fall apart. He has great leadership instincts due to his height. But I think CKD would offer it.
